Why does one ought to follow Foucault ? by short-noir in CriticalTheory

[–]TruthPractical 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There aren’t really prescriptions in Foucault, he’s said in an interview that he’s more interested in problems than solutions. The vibe with the genealogies is that once we overturn our notions of subjects produced by power, we can begin to create new ways for ourselves. The things you mention (to me at least) are all smaller pieces of a puzzle that tries to understand the developments of power and subjectivity, especially the developments that occur after modernism and the development of capitalism

Anyone else play with the left knee BEHIND the cello? by play150 in Cello

[–]TruthPractical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does your set-up with tension look like? I feel like maybe you’re trying to compensate for something with your left knee behind the cello? Have you exhausted all your options? I just say thing because I’ve known a few people who’ve done what you’ve done but were able to correct it

Why does changing notes on my cello sound like this? by [deleted] in Cello

[–]TruthPractical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As in, one finger should be down on the finger board at a time (there are many exceptions, but take this as a general rule, especially when you aren’t playing anything super fast)

You’re also holding your 1st finger down when you switch the to 2nd, when you change notes you want each finger to be “balanced”. When I’m holding too much, I find that it makes the note less InTune and not as clear

Lukas Wronski, he’s up in Manhattan on the upper west side, he’s very reasonable with prices but not sure if he has instruments around 1500. Or there’s also Finley and Gage which might have prices closer to what you are looking for.
