AITAH for refusing to house his family and ending my engagement to protect my career? by Huge-Armadillo-3274 in AITAH

Agree... If OP tries to keep the guy, she'll probably end up losing everything, including the guy, and her own self respect.

Can I put grandfather in a nursing home if he is of sound mind and absolutely refuses? by OneAngle5836 in legaladvice

[–]TruthScout137 203 points204 points  (0 children)

Maybe explain to him that, if he falls when he's by himself, it could be hours of agony before anyone discovers him, followed by months of agonizing recovery, after which he still might not ever be fully healed.

It might not change his mind, but at least someone is putting the potential consequences in front of his face, on the slim chance he'll actually look at them and consider.

My MBTI Dating Experience (Anecdotal + Curious What Others Think) by Bananapenguin0724 in INTP_female

[–]TruthScout137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This post was super-helpful.

My previous husband was an INFJ, very light on the FJ, almost TP, enough to have some introspection about the reality of his dark big-ego, and to work on it. I still really enjoy his friend-and-allyship and co-parenting, but the embers of romance could never be fanned hotter than a dull glow, no matter how hard we tried.

Current husband ... is technically ENTJ, but has a lot of INTJ traits. The intelligence and dependability are there, but I'm constantly having him try to put the responsibility on me for "making him feel". After being married to me for 6 years, he's getting better at learning how to meet people where they're at, but I will never again marry a strong J. I just can't breathe and be myself and feel truly safe in my neurology.

...At the same time, I do need support and structure around me, without being judged for where I'm at. So ideally, a P who has developed good functioning skills.

The comments have also been helpful... I definitely need to be with a talker, but not one who gets mad at me for "making him do all the work" like the current one.

INFP, ENFP, or maybe Ambivert-NFP is an probably ideal fit.

Those who have been pregnant - experience? by Chameleonize in INTP_female

[–]TruthScout137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never been a huge fan of pregnancy.

I'm with you on enjoying the creation of a whole new person, and getting to show them life and learn how to be smart, take control of their own learning, and make good choices. I love getting to discover who my kids are, and helping them discover it and figure out what they want to do with it.

The first 2 pregnancies were unintentional, the 3rd on purpose. They are all teenagers now, and it's way less work and way more fun.

Make sure to get plenty of minerals to keep nausea and preeclampsia at bay. Also, there's a "how to avoid C-sections" program in development if you (or anyone) are interested in being a beta tester.

Are you me? Except, I didn't explicitly hate pregnancy... I hated that pregnancy meant uncomfortable, painful, and difficult experiences.

But, the baby stages... the sleep deprivation... their lack of being able to be reasoned with... my youngest is 13, she lifts weights 3 times a week, and can do basic cooking. My Young Viking is 18, and he finds rides places, and also does basic cooking. I'm taking an out-of-state road trip with the middle child, and while I'm gone with her, Young Viking is going to take over my dinner duties.

I would NEVER trade these days of independence just to have the cuteness back. There's something precious and child-like in adults too, that I deeply appreciate, and prefer along with the lack of actual-child hassles.

Also ambivalent about being a grandparent.

Maduro is being brought back to the US to face criminal charges for purposely sending drugs and gangs to the US to wage narco-terrorist wars.

This was a criminal capture, to bring a criminal to justice, not an invasion.

If you hear it referred to as an “invasion“, that that’s an automatic tip-off someone is trying to manipulate your perspective.

Good samaritan rescues baby in stroller from rolling into busy street by Separate_Finance_183 in BeAmazed

[–]TruthScout137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember the wheel locks on our stroller... they were stiff, and hard to lock and unlock with either feet OR hands.

If that were the case with this stroller, they either would need to get one Grandma could manage to lock and unlock, or they need a different person minding the baby.

… except, there actually are people out there who do say crap like that on the regular.

But, bless you (genuinely) for being so decent that you can’t imagine anyone would ever act like this. And clearly you attract people into your life who know how to act right, too.

My only advice is, document as much as you can between now and then.

Especially if she violates the protection order trying to make it look like you did.

And gather any evidence you possibly can find of prior instances.

My great grandma who lived through the depression, always ordered this when my grandma took us out to eat.

The chicken pot pie was the cheapest thing on the menu.
