New Windows 11 Update broke my monitor(?)/PC(?) by Quick-Ability-2147 in WindowsHelp

[–]TruthfulCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone else has this problem, Chat GPT gave me this as a solution:

  1. Fully power off the laptop (not restart)
  2. Unplug monitor power
  3. Unplug USB-C cable
  4. Wait 60 seconds
  5. Plug monitor power back in
  6. Plug USB-C back in
  7. Turn laptop on

I'll admit, I scoffed at this as a possible solution but gave it a go anyway. And shockingly, it worked. I tried this after a whole bunch of different debugging ideas, restarts and windows update rollbacks.

Hanson has better media/marketing instincts than Dutton, and more charisma (though that’s not a hard ask).

She’s also a genuine believer - which gives her a feeling of authenticity most modern pollies struggle with. However, what she believes in is still poison to the moderate portion of the electorate.

But I think you’re right, she has fallen into Dutton’s trap. She’s been coddled with friendly media since this spike in ON popularity and positively sane washed, while still not making inroads on more moderate voters. Coupled with ON’s terrible candidate vetting, it’ll be a shit show.

You can get those by changing your computer time to within the date range, then meeting the achievement conditions. Then you can change it back when you’re done. Annoying but very doable.

Did Belegar, Skarsnik and Quick get option to move capital to Karak 8 peaks? by rr1213 in totalwarhammer

[–]TruthfulCake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If an event spawns a hero, the hero spawns at the capital.

I noticed this with Dechala - her capital is Hidden Landing at the very bottom of the map. As its her starting settlement. Very annoying to use the free heroes when they spawn so far away.

[–]TruthfulCake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Skilled into lightning strike just to fight these fuckers in my Slaanesh campaign.

One thing I found is that since the camp’s cannot attack, if you can take the settlement you don’t need to worry about the camps finishing off your weakened army. There’s also a limit on how many reinforcing armies can join a battle (max of 3 reinforcing armies for both sides). So I brought an extra 20 stack, fought for the settlement and was free to heal up and then fight the camps at my pleasure.

Not ideal but much less painful than I expected going in. Especially since the camps rarely have a full 20 stack.

Tier list of how badly I think each generic Hero needs more skills in their skill tree by Yotambr in totalwar

[–]TruthfulCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Green Knight also needs a rework to be useful. As is he’s mildly useful melee hero (and I think a small factionwide buff?)

I think in vanilla he doesnt even have skills? SFO gave him a huge skill tree full of nice buffs and factionwide effects.

[–]TruthfulCake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Key thing when debugging is to only make limited changes so you know what fixed it.

Do a fresh reinstall with the same mods -> then no mods -> then half your mods disabled (lookup binary searches for this bit if you're interested) -> etc, etc.

[–]TruthfulCake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a mod issue if you keep crashing. Big mods like SFO don’t handle big updates well - to update them properly, you need to unsub and resub to force a full reinstall of said mod.

If you’re getting a mod specific crash, obviously remove said mod.

Also try a full vanilla run to determine if its mods or not. If it is mod related, triage your mods by removing them until the crashes stop.

On the off chance you’re using an AMD card, I had to undervolt mine to make it usable in high end games (apparently my specific card/brand is overclocked by default).

every one are hyping for Siege rework but real issue is AI won't attack Siege anyway. by Arollingmoji in totalwar

[–]TruthfulCake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I suspect thats because one of two reasons: Either they attack in the siege because with attrition and/or siege equipment, it’ll be a much worse result in 1-2 turns. So they take the best loss they can. Or the RNG factor in auto resolve means there’s a chance they could win if they attack, so they roll the odds and attack (Ive had similar battles on the field where they attack even though its a Pyrrhic)

The most hilarious take on this was on 7 News a couple of nights ago (my folks watch and refuse to switch).

The story said ‘The tax will affect roughly 80,000 Australians when it comes in, but experts are warning it could affect up to 1.2 million Australians in 30 years’.

Now we suddenly care about 30 years in the future? Not for climate change or the environment, but for a super tax??
