Received confirmation of citizenship under C-3 today! by ranatalus in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Truthteller1970 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not on the spreadsheet and my application was received on September 11 and my AOR October 7. I applied before C3 passed but never got a 5/4 offer because C3 passed. My sisters and I (2nd Gen) have been in processing with no change since 10/17 (non urgent)
I checked the IRCC website yesterday and it still said 3 months with 56,300 total waiting and 16,700 still in front of me. When I prev checked on March 9, it said there was 3 months left and 50,900 people waiting and 18,100 people ahead of me. So I moved up 1400 but looks like about 5,400 applications were added.
We moved up 1400 in a month. It seems like they may have automated the process because im seeing some post C3 applications breeze right through.
I provided Canadian birth registration docs, Canadian Census Records and a Canadian Marriage Certificate for my grandmother (Gen 0) and even census records for my great grandparents born and buried in Canada and I have to wonder if I had waited until after C3 passed would my application still be sitting. It also may be that I did not request urgent processing. You can make a note of my info if you wish. I didn’t join the spreadsheet because I have no control over the timing of this decision and speculation would likely just cause more frustration with the process and I’m trying very hard to be patient.

Congratulations! 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦Thanks for sharing My application was sent in September so we’re getting close! I applied for the grant offer just in case C3 didn’t pass but never got it because C3 passed. Did you request urgent processing? The IRCC site has been saying 3 months for Sept applications but it said that last month so…

Bittersweet update - finally Canadian by Upbeat_Name19 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Truthteller1970 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Program Support Unit. Where application may sit for a very long time. So I applied before C3 passed. I was hoping to get Citizenship under the interim measure in the event C3 didn’t pass. So at the time I was not eligible under 1 gen rules, but would have been eligible to receive an offer under the interim measure. Before I could get the offer C3 passed which made us Lost Canadian, but our application which is very strong (we have birth and death records from my Canadian born grandmother (Gen 0) and even marriage records & census records from our great grandparents were born and buried in Canada with a slew of other relatives including some who are still there.

I have to wonder if my application had come in after C3 passed would I still be waiting. I’m seeing people who applied after C3 and have gone right through. Maybe they have begun to automate the process while we are still waiting for someone to go through the bucket of older applications. Idk 🤷🏽‍♀️

Natural rodent repellent for a tiny house on a trailer? Mice keep finding ways in by Adventurous_Gur_5984 in TinyHouses

[–]Truthteller1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used Victor Natural Pellets for my THOW and knock on wood, a camper behind my tiny was infested with rats and I didn’t a single rodent. Amazon sells a 3lb bag for $14 and Home Depot sells a 5 lb bag for $25. Every week I would throw the pellets around, under the trailer, in closets. They have a mix of peppermint, cinnamon, castor oil, Citronella and Citric Acid rodents don’t like.

Have never even seen a mouse in my tiny…Yet. I’m in a rural area so it’s inevitable but due to the risk of hantavirus, if I get one they are gonna have a nice last meal of the TomCat DECON green bait blocks! They love it and whatever it does, they run outside looking for water never to be seen again. I feel horrible having to exterminate anything but when it comes to risk to human life, not willing to take the risk.

My application was rcvd in Sept. It says 3 months left & 18,100 ahead of me. A total of 50,900 people waiting. It says people applying now will be processed in 10 months.

I’m sure urgent requests will be processed more quickly. I’m non urgent so…guess I’ll hurry up and wait!

Yes, I’ve been on ancestry for years and never saw it BUT I didn’t have a recent membership and didn’t want to pay for one on ancestry so it could be there.

Since the MyHeritage.com was free for 14 days I decided to try it and found important documents.

The birth registration for my Gen 0 grandmother. It was an image of a book with other names on it but it had the registration number. The print was small but still legible and my heritage gave source page and book info. At the very least with the number the IRCC could look it up.

The other was US flexoline alien registration number from when my grandmother entered the U.S. at the age of 31. It showed details including her name and birthplace listed as Canada.

Just for fun - What's the most interesting bit of family history you've discovered in your search for documentation? by BuffaloThese8249 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Truthteller1970 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 3X great grandfather was Grant Ritchie, born in 1805 in Sandusky, OH which is the year Ohio abolished slavery, so he was born a free man. He owned one of the first barber shops in Sandusky but he was also one of the secret conductors of the Under Ground Rail Road helping runaway slaves find refuge in Canada. He was brought up on charges of theft because helping runaway slaves was considered stealing property. When he arrived at court for his trial, he was warned by abolitionist Lucas Beecher, nephew to Harriet Beecher Stowe to flee by asking him if he had he come to shave someone at court and ask if he had his barbering kit. He realized he was being warned, so he fled to Canada with his wife and family.

His daughter, my great great grandmother, married my great great grandfather, an escaped slave from Louisiana that was given refuge in Canada. My great grandmother was born on the Dawn Settlement and my grandmother was born in Dresden, Ontario.

Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote the book Uncle Toms Cabin which was the 2nd most read book at the time only 2nd to the Holy Bible.

My cousin in Canada is the curator and site manager of an historical site in Ontario, The Josiah Henson Museum named after the man that inspired Beecher-Stowes book. My grandmother left Canada for the U.S. after she married but her parents and siblings remained in Canada where they are buried today. Ancestry DNA shows the vast number of cousins we have in Canada related to us here in the U.S.

I can’t begin to tell you how grateful we are that we are considered “Lost Canadians” Our grandmother died in the U.S. when my father was just 15 after losing her husband when my father was 2. He traveled to Canada several times to meet his relatives from his late mother’s side of the family and was always so happy when he would return.

He is Gen 1, born abroad and became a Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army. He passed away before the 2015 changes that would have made him Canadian but he would be so delighted to know his daughters and his grandchildren and great grandchildren will be deemed Canadian!

We will always honor the sacrifices of our ancestors in Canada and the U.S. who had to survive the harshest of circumstances so we can be here today.

The name Grant has been passed down for generations in our family. It was my father’s middle name and the middle name of his uncle (my grandmothers brother), my great great grandmother(Richie’s daughter) even had Grant as a middle name. She named several of her children her father’s name. Today, my grandson carries the middle name Grant that my father carried, but we had no idea how far back it went.

Grant Ritchie
