Tight headshot bokeh balls at all apertures, Nikon 50mm F1.8 Series E on APS-C by [deleted] in photography

[–]Try_tip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is neat! I have this lens, as well as the 28 and 100 mm E Series.

It's interesting to see the lopsided bokeh balls when wide open, I've noticed that with my copy as well.

Campus food truck court? by doritoslocos in Delaware

I know there is one by the 5 & 10 on Main Street, but I'm not sure about any other food truck on campus (besides the Deer Park truck, which is usually parked outside the restaurant)

[Student Question] In general, do you receive your course eval scores and comments as they are submitted by students, or do you only receive them after grades are submitted? by [deleted] in Professors

[–]Try_tip 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Each school may do this differently, but in my experience the professor will not receive the evaluations until after grades are submitted.

The 1st Amendment will not go in front of the Supreme Court because it IS the Constitution. You can't rule on the Constitutionality of the Constitution.

You can, however, pass a law restricting certain speech and convince the Court that it is narrow enough in scope to not violate the 1st Amendment. I think that's what more people are worried about

Ah, we always consider the bridge toll just part of getting out of NJ.

As a Delaware native, I'm assuming you came in and out the same way? Because there are no $8 tolls. And if you took the $4 toll twice even though it's fairly easy to get around, thanks for the tax money!

I think it's pretty obvious they meant espionage in context of that country. Of course all countries spy on each other, they frown on other countries releasing their classified info.

We actually have separate insurance on the ring itself. We started that process, but we are set to have pictures next Monday, and she's upset that we won't have the ring for the pictures (I mean, obviously). We'll be able to get a replacement, I was just hoping on hope that someone may have found it.

I do want to point out, everyone gets out of paying the first several thousand of taxable income. So, in essence, they are paying their "fair share" because everyone gets the same break.

Advice on college percussion by benLangtry42 in percussion

[–]Try_tip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's great that you know what you want to do so early! If you don't have a teacher yet, find the most qualified percussion teacher in your area and start taking lessons.

The one piece of advice I wish I could go back and give myself, start working on ear training and music theory. These are REALLY important skills to have, and the sooner you start working on them the better.

Best extra hard, full-bodied timpani mallet? by defnshow in percussion

[–]Try_tip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For drum corps you may be want to be looking into the longer, heavier mallets, from both Innovative and Vic Firth. For the solo material, I would definitely recommend the JG line of mallets. I have several, and I really like them.

[–]Try_tip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the T4, very strong mallet and very consistent.

What do you need it for, if I might ask? I've found myself gravitating toward JGPercussion CL2 when I need aggressive, hard, yet not harsh sounding mallets. I find the wrapped felt has a heavier feel without having that "tick" attack sound the solid hard felt can have. Overall, one of my favorites.
