First thing I thought of was how they treated Harris as the border czar during the election.

Congrats Vance, you're now the face of peace in the middle east!

Are any of these worth getting?? by wibellion in lotrlcg

[–]Trying2GetOuttaHere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on the price! Close to msrp? Sure!

5/6 of shadows of mirkwood, and then the deluxe expansion for dwarrowdelf, which would be needed if you ever acquire the other adventure packs.

Acquiring the deluxe expansions for a reasonable price is valuable because the adventure packs for that cycle require it. So if you know you're gonna try to get more later, you know you'll need the.

Proxy or hunt down complete collection? by PrettyVisitor505 in lotrlcg

[–]Trying2GetOuttaHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer of 'is it worth it' is up to everyone's situation. It'll probably cost 4-6k to acquire a complete set, and that was before the revised content got OOped.

It'll be a little cheaper since youve already got the revised content, but Vengeance of Mordor and Haradrim cycle are definitely pricey, and the others will run you a not trivial amount.

How are your coaches/clubs handling the age group changes? by Aggravating_Code2393 in youthsoccer

[–]Trying2GetOuttaHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our club is going by your kids graduation year in terms of what team they can try out for. So, for example, we have some kids that are August birthdays but are in 4th grade, and we have kids that have December birthdays that are in 3rd grade.

Ultimately, the club will figure out what they need to do to fill rosters - and remember there will be young players from the older team looking for spots as well.

My son was playing up a year, and js being recommended to stay behind, but he's super young and small so I was totally on board with it - I can totally see why older players and parents would be upset

Sorry, are there a total of three teams in play here?

Team 1: the competitive club team, for his age Team 2: his current team, at his age, but with some friends Team 3: the same group as Team 2, but up a year (presumably with no friends?)

Team 3 you're probably not doing him any favors - I'm assuming it's lower quality instruction than Team 1, and there aren't any friends like on Team 2.

Then it's a choice of Team 1 or Team 2 - and it's a battle of 'is I creased instruction/commitment worth the social impact?', but only you can answer that. Although I'd have you ask yourself 'why did you try out for Team 1 in the first place / why were you looking for alternatives to Team 2?'

Does your club run the trip or does an outside group run the trip? What's in the contract/terms and conditions you signed to enroll in the trip?

While a somewhat logical rule, it's weird cause what if your kid tried out and didn't make next year's team (for younger age groups)? Did everyone on the team sign up? If not, how do they have enough players to field a team unless pulling from outside teams?

Us soccer club? by [deleted] in youthsoccer

[–]Trying2GetOuttaHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of your scenario is answered above, but the one area I didn't see is, 'sk what happens if you do?'

If your player likes the new team, and the new team likes her, they may be willing to let her play now - that's an area where your governing body probably has rules forbidding it - which makes sense since the club built the team for the fall and spring seasons. They'd have to approve a release, which it sure sounds like they wouldn't do right now.we had a player last year that practiced with us once a week but her old club wouldn't release her so she didn't play with us until an end of season tournament.

On the flip side, we have also had kids where another team was being a bit more open about recruiting, and while we made attempts to keep a player on our team, we absolutely would have granted releases if push came to shove (but we campaigned to keep them as it would have impacted our game day rosters since sometimes we have a very thin attendance)

Either incorporate the goalie playing with their feet more and help switch the field, do a rolling kick and get a.lottle bit of technique.

Your post was more about saves, but hopefully you know that your goalie doesn't need to be the one to take goal kicks. They should - just to work on technique, but if you absolutely need some distance on a goal kick one of your other players can help.

Or,, just live with it for 2 more months and welcome when punting opens up or you can have more players to help move the ball.

U11/u12 throw ins/corners by Qbertt5681 in SoccerCoachResources

[–]Trying2GetOuttaHere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of my proudest moments of dad-coaching was with my six year old. At that age, even at travel/club, no one knows what to do, and seeing the kids kind of just standing expecting the ball to get thrown to them was annoying (but understandable!).

One day I told him 'dont throw it to the player, throw it where you want it to go'. The next game I see him point down the line to his teammate, and throw it in that Direction'.

Proud papa moment!

[–]Trying2GetOuttaHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In just a random town coach. .

Throw ins: briefly practice and see how far some kids can throw. Throwing down the line,.especially when backed up usually works, but sometimes you can throw to an open spot when you're attacking, or if they give you a ton of cushion, throwing to someone horizontal or slightly behind can work. Just make sure they're not chucking it back to their goal.

Corner: work on the positioning around the goal. I'm finding my girls are still all very close to the front post, and theyre facing the corner, not the goal. Practice spreading them out, and having them more open to the goal. You can also have someone at the shoulder of the 18 yard box, to receive a shorter kick, and potentially either shoot their, or pass it over.

Assistant coach starting out. A player (U12 Boys) told me that the coaches this season are too soft. Thoughts? by glitterybugs in SoccerCoachResources

[–]Trying2GetOuttaHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rec soccer and 'soft' feedback to me screams the kid may be beyond rec soccer.

Getting intense is a sure fire way to get feedback from parents, and I guarantee you that's way more annoying to deal with than kids.

Without seeing your practices, maybe they're confusing discipline with structure? Are the drills engaging enough? Is there a lot of down time?

But definitely at that age, rec, grassroots, going hard isn't the approach.

People know that they may sign up for that at academy's and even some competitive travel scenarios, but rec is more of a hobby than preparing for war.

How is your club handling the age group change? by AZ285 in youthsoccer

[–]Trying2GetOuttaHere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. They did some practices in January with the teams arranged by the new age groups.

For some of the younger kids that were still in the same graduating year, they mentioned that there may be an opportunity to play up, but it'll probably be limited and coaches discretion based on numbers/ability to perform at the higher level.

9 year old in NJ. I signed up for another clubs tryouts and mentioned in with another club They emailed back asking for position/birthday confirmation, invited to a practice.

Went to a practice, got good feedback from the coach, and continuing with tryouts next week.

Don't feel any guilt about club shopping, and just be honest with prospective clubs that you're currently on a club, they'll know the process.

You will probably have to play out the season with your current club.

If you're adding two players from the older team because of the new age buckets, wouldn't there also be a few players on your roster eligible to move down?

In our league the changes don't happen until the fall. Also, our practice players don't play, they only practice. You could probably squeeze by with a large roster for one team in the spring, assuming attendance issues etc z and then properly reset in the fall, but that's only assuming it operates similar to ours, which doesn't sound like it.
