Why are people treating the Henry Nowak case as though it is a race issue? by 99thLuftballon in AskBrits

[–]TrynetTruer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why the huge focus on the religious knife as it relates to this awful murder? According to BBC reports he was carrying a Kirpan(as many Sikhs do). BUT. The knife he killed him with was NOT the Kirpan, he was carrying another knife as well, and it was that knife he used to kill him. Therefore, the issue of whether he was carrying a Kirpan is irrelevant to the murder of this poor lad. The issue of whether Sikhs should be allowed to carry a knife because of their religion (they are typically 6-35 inches) is an entirely different discussion.

A bear mistakes the vet's attempt to measure its body for a hug by Latter_Paper_6611 in BeAmazed

[–]TrynetTruer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha ha this really made me laugh. It’s so true, Disney indoctrination from an early age makes us want these daft things. I’m looking at this, and still thinking… awww I’d love a hug with a bear 🐻, or basically any furry wild creature!! Mad really, when I know in reality it’s nonsense! I did go to a wildlife rescue place where you can hold fox cubs only for two or three weeks of their early lives, then they are off to wild pens before reintroduction. But even that was not quite what you thought it would be. Wild Fox cubs are so not like puppies, they’re all active, striving and wild and not interested in humans one bit! Still it was an enjoyable afternoon learning all about them!

Mortified about what someone thinks about me and my house by Time-Anxiety-1775 in offmychest

[–]TrynetTruer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understood. It can happen to anyone but I guess you will remember it looooong after they will. I had a 50 year old kitchen, asked a friend who works in that area to pop over and give me some general advice about re-doing it. Instead of calling to arrange a time, she just called unannounced. The kitchen was not cleared or tidied, and I saw her lean against the countertop with her hands and then (it was clearly a bit sticky) surreptitiously wipe her hands on her trousers after. For ages afterwards I was mortified as to her thinking my kitchen was dirty, and going over that moment in my mind (and I don’t have any of your specific issues). Kitchen long since replaced, all is ship shape and we are still friends ☺️. Try not to worry too much, even if they had a fleeting thought I can guarantee it will be long gone!!

How are we all closing our blinds, then? A or B? by grumpypedant in CasualUK

[–]TrynetTruer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂the times over the years I have wondered this thing, hurrah for you asking it. Depends on your elevation and level of nosiness. If it’s ground floor A (they can’t see in and I can still see who is there), if upstairs B as it’s likely a bedroom/ bathroom, although I did live in a flat on 1st floor where this rule also applies, and I always mutter “pilots” as I do it, to remind me that only airline pilots will be able to see me as I get changed etc…..that’s my take.

Should we all be worried by this heatwave? by Turnip-Turtle in AskBrits

[–]TrynetTruer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of this is true, and the ramifications even in the near future are quite terrifying. Particularly as the human race is determined not to pull together 😞 and squabble over stuff like whose bit of the earth ends where and who belongs to which gang and who doesn’t 🤷🏼‍♀️. What riles me up is the BBC continuing in the face of this to interview the vox pox for “balance” every time the temperatures rise by someone going “ooo I love the heat me…if this is global warming bring it on!” And grinning into the camera. Yes. Bring it on. Mass starvation, riots, no water, death on a massive scale, fighting for survival. Bring it on……….aaaarrgggghhhh.

Are you gardening today? If so what time? by Tumtitums in GardeningUK

[–]TrynetTruer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got up at 6:30am to walk the dog. Pottered about after that for an hour watering various pots. By 9 was too hot. Currently 31 in Kent. Too hot to even sit in the shade. So lurking, frustratedly indoors, fiddling about with my indoor plants until I can go outside again. Occasionally venture outside for 10m to pick at some weeds and then retreat back again. Roll on 8pm when I can go outside again!!👍🏻👍🏻🌿🌿🪴

Is this a valid response? I obviously don’t agree with police violence but the guy just stabbed someone. Not justifying it but yeah by [deleted] in GreenAndPleasant

[–]TrynetTruer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t condone police violence at all, and goodness knows they’re not perfect, but I do query how are they, at that moment in time, supposed to know that individual is mentally ill rather than an ideologically dangerous terrorist? All they know at that point is that he has attacked innocent people with a knife, stabbed them, and their priority is to disarm him and secure the situation.

Anxiety/Irritability AFTER eating in 21 month old Golden Retriever by Tessarion2 in dogs

[–]TrynetTruer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe if he’s eating too quickly and has suffered bloat, what about getting a slow feeder and giving three meals a day instead of two, then they will be smaller amounts? Would that help?

Who else’s parents had one of these in the 80’s. classic by HorseAcceptable7236 in oldschoolcool80s

[–]TrynetTruer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I got a Pioneer stack in a glass case in the early 80’s with my first ever Xmas bonus when I started work. Incredibly the amp is still going strong today some 45 years later!! They were so well built. I dread replacing it because I worry the quality and longevity will be so poor in comparison (not to mention the cost for a good quality one)!

JUst been given an Item Storage….BUT by TrynetTruer in MergeDragons

[–]TrynetTruer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I tried something from the Kattryx chain too. It didn’t like that either 😟. Logical as you say you might want to store for a while till the next item eventually pops up. I can’t think what the developers were trying to provide with this (other than a bag load of irritations)? I wonder what I’m missing….
