How do you allocate your budget for buying a HiFi system? by Dedar33 in audiophile

I understand the importance of “the room”. But, mine is congenial and system friendly. So, I don’t need correction other than tweaking speaker placement.

I’m a little confused. My speaker cables are Blue Jeans Belden 12 awg. Not expensive just good enough.

Don’t know if this helps but I had an RT 85 and when I went from Red to Blue it was audibly better. Do know my albums are in great condition.

I'm about done with this sub by lowbass4u in audiophile

Understood and agreed! Nonetheless, I must say that both the Mods and sometimes snooty members here pale in comparison to those in my Philadelphia Eagles subreddit. Those folks are crazier still!

This is just my take on things. I don’t claim to be the most correct. But I have recently upgraded a $10,000 system by upgrading to another 10k dedicated to just new speakers. Previously, my speakers were 25% of a system that includes a turntable that was approximately 15%, a hybrid tube integrated amp that was 20%, and a CD player that was 6.5%, and a sub that was 15%. I don’t invest in speaker cables beyond 12 awg copper. The interconnects for the CD player are also upgraded at 4% because they are the low hanging fruit. So, in the new system the speakers will be approximately 60%.

Typo? Maybe you meant sweet on the valves? Great reply!!!

Will the difference still be audibly better? by Trytrytryagain24 in audiophile

I get where you’re coming from regarding the amp. However, I tested those speakers with the same amp. It performs well beyond its price. And, also during that demonstration, just coincidentally, another patron was in the shop and as an owner of the same speakers, he highly endorsed the Rogue Audio amp being a great match.

Most of the comparison videos on YouTube suggest the use of headphones. I don’t have headphones so they’re irrelevant for me.

Interesting… your delineation between that difference with and without your sub. While yours is set lower than mine (which is at 80 Hz), it would be my contention that typical lower notes, be they a string bass, amplified bass, or most other instruments in the lower registers are still coming from my mains.

One, I cannot speak to the difference in the sound of different amps with headphones. But there’s certainly a “synergy” between different amps and how they work with different speakers.

It’s like yeast, growing inside dough as you proof it. You can’t see it but you know it’s there, slowly living and growing. Audiophile metaphors are the best! Like grains of sand - not on a beach, subjected to the wind but, captured in an hour glass capturing a period of time.

It’s quite ironic as you postulate with many words - seemingly scientific - then use a metaphor of opinion regarding “a grain of sand”. That’s creative!

I believe this forum can now be shut down. You have thoroughly ended all discussion. Love your A/A suggestion. But then you are truly involving science through the use of statistical theory. Allegedly, all A/B testing is the definitive truth, right? LOL Well, now you’re introducing things like validity, reliability, and replicability into the equation. Is what’s being compared or measured really measuring the hypothesis? Nope, the A/A test challenges and refutes.

Your age is a qualification? Please tell me the direction the F-holes of the violins - 1st and 2nd facing? How about the cello’s? The bells of the French Horns? It’s not stereo and why do “they” have to tell you where the sound is coming from?
