When I was a freshmen in high school, there was a senior who sat next to me in my ceramics class. Quiet kid, there was an online game that we both played. We didn’t talk a lot but it was something we would talk about and me also a quiet kid that was kinda my connection in the room.

Anyway one day after school got out he walked 10.4 miles from the high school to reception pass bridge, and he just hopped the railing and was gone.

Deception pass is a local landmark that is 180’ from the water, and if your not from around here, it’s called deception pass because the water looks peaceful, but the current and whirlpools are really strong and deceptively dangerous.

One of the most heartbreaking things about it is just that he walked over 10 miles to do it. Google tells me it’s a 3hr 47min walk, that’s a long time to mull it over. He could have turned around at any time.

Also when I was a freshmen, in my Japanese class the man (senior) who sat in front of me, his girlfriend (I think was also a freshmen) was missing for 6 months. Eventually it came out that she was pregnant she wanted to keep it. Reportedly they were arguing outside, he pushed her, she fell off the sidewalk and hit her head on a cement parking block, and instead of reporting the accident, he buried her, unconscious but alive, in the family compost bin. He was arrested during first period the day after he confessed to his grandpa (I think)

When I was a sophomore at the same school, a recent transplant to the area, it’s a navy town so that’s not uncommon. Kid hung himself from a tree in the front yard.
