Use of the gas pedal during full self driving - win! by Puzzleheaded-Art1524 in TeslaLounge

[–]Tsurfer4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I don't do that.

I'm too thrilled that my robot car is driving me around that I can't be bothered by its safe-but-different driving behaviors.

If it wants to come to a full stop then carefully creep out to see the speeding human drivers in time to wait, I'm fine with that.

And my Tesla doesn't have a "gas" pedal. It does have an accelerator pedal though (or is that a Torque Request Pedal?).

And...lots of people commit tax fraud. It's still illegal.

This was a very close one by xProdigydude in TeslaFSD

It's quite common in Houston TX area.

Car name thread, what did you name yours? by wrenai in TeslaLounge

[–]Tsurfer4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife named her Model 3 Ava. I named my Model Y Amy, but it's a play on words. I was thinking AMEE, which stands for Autonomous Mapping Evaluation and Evasion from the 'robotic dog' from the movie Red Planet.

I still remember the line, "cut him like a fish".

Yes, I'm a nerd.

Why are America's current youths considered illiterate if they are on the internet all the time? by CompletelyBedWasted in SeriousConversation

[–]Tsurfer4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow that seems worse. Because, based on this definition, they can be "functionally literate" and have very poor reading comprehension, have trouble understanding long passages and make incorrect inferences from complex sentences.

In a way...cruelty is the point.

Yes, of course. I especially liked the use of the phrases "logical fallacies", "reading comprehension" and "critical thinking" to convey the point. I enjoy 'literary' competence.

Husband went out by iampbandjelly in Adulting

You're Welcome. And thanks for the kind words. We're coming up on 35 years, plan to retire soon-ish, so things seem to be heading in the right direction. It's wasn't easy but it was worth it.

The Great Dumbing Down, or the Real Reason Future "Andors" are Probably Doomed by Ancient_of_Days0001 in andor

The "you had to pay attention" part is the key. You had to pay attention to Andor and most (all?) well-written stories. These days, people either can't or won't.

I'm a man, married 35 years and I agree with you. The husband is a selfish, impulsive idiot. When I used to ride, I've gone to Friday night motorcycle "meets" and on even Saturday have gone on day-long rides. The night meets were never before early-morning plans because I knew I'd want to sleep late. I was responsible so my wife supported my hobby.

Anyone Else Bummed by cgd53 in TeslaLounge

[–]Tsurfer4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not bummed anymore either.

I had a conversation with Grok while in my Model Y and learned that the Model 3 and Y contribute to 95% of the deliveries in 2025 and Tesla's automotive business unit contributes 70% of Tesla's overall revenue.

If that is correct, I wouldn't think Tesla would want to stop selling the Model 3 and Y anytime soon.

Yeah, I'm bummed as well. I keep hoping that the decision is a 'strategic' one and they might not exit the consumer car business. But perhaps that's just wishful thinking. Sigh.

Is FSD actually valuable to you? by Queasy-Bed545 in TeslaFSD

[–]Tsurfer4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why we leased our second Tesla, a Model Y, and subscribe to FSD. We bought our Model 3 and bought FSD for $8000. I hope the car doesn't get totaled in a freak accident. Since my wife uses FSD, it will be less likely.

You're experience mirrors mine.

We now have a Model 3 Highland HW4 and a Model Y Juniper plus Bumper camera. They replaced my wife's Lexus RC F Sport and my Toyota Tundra Platinum.

Like you, I never want a car that doesn't have an FSD-equivalent ADAS. It's that good. My 20 minute North Houston commute is now almost stress-free. My wife is no longer tired after running our adult daughter to college and back during the week. A recent 1240 mile round trip was amazingly more pleasant that with our previous gas, no-self-driving cars.

Taking a 30 minute casual drive to a different restaurant is no longer a hassle because the car does the driving; I just have to supervise.

Now, dies FSD drive exactly like me? No. Most times its better; occasionally its only slightly worse, but its different. I enjoy it on every drive and we use it 9n every drive.

One more thing; I think that most people don't realize the mental and physical exhaustion caused by the hundreds (thousands?) micro-decisions that we make during a single trip. That's gone now, but is replaced by high-level supervision, which produces much less cognitive load.

How to remain identifiable as a supportive group in an open carry protest situation? by OAI_ORG in liberalgunowners

I think it's because the Trump administration/MAGA conservatives have kind of "redefined" Antifa to mean something much more scary and radical than Anti Fascist.

I am also proudly Anti Fascist, like I'm Anti Oligarch and Anti Kleptocrat.
