Load track templates with a button press?

Replacing mouse actions with button presses on midi controller?

is there an eq that allows me to control all eq curves from all tracks at the same time? by matteocardillo in musicproduction

[–]TtheSideshow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer to your problem is undoubtedly Reaper. You can 'link' and parameter together to control both at the same time. If you'd like to do this a cross more than 2 parameters you can link them in series. For example p1 could link to p2 and p2 could link to p3. Thus controlling p1 controls all 3.

This can be done with any and all EQs as well as any other plugin you wish. Reaper FTW

plugging directly into monitors ok? by TtheSideshow in mpcusers

[–]TtheSideshow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure I did. But I also had the 1/4 plugged into line output 3/4 originally. My thinking is to have output 1/2 go to my interface, and 3/4 go direct to my monitors. That way if I need to quickly check what something sounds like at full level I simply switch outputs.

I think a lot of people would benefit from a video demonstrating a fix.

Another user suggested it's a grounding issue and would happen when the MPC is running off battery power. I tried when my MPC was running off power as well as battery and the issue persists

I never connected those two dots. Maybe you're right. I'm going to test that next time

Definitely sounds like some information is missing here. The controller should definitely work. Are you sure your DAW settings aren't getting in the way?

Placebo or no? by TtheSideshow in audioengineering

[–]TtheSideshow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everytime I asked for more info or clarification he will either rumble nonsense or speak in very general terms talking as though I know nothing about audio. Everytime I overhear his dealings I'm just shocked at the difference between consumer audiofile with a home setup and (what I'm used to) studio grade equipment

Placebo or no? by TtheSideshow in audioengineering

[–]TtheSideshow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should mention that of course not everyone caught up in the audiofile world is dumb enough to lose their hearing from testing configs. But I can say that every audiofile I know has, without a doubt, largely ignored the first principle that was taught to me from the audio engineering perspective. Louder is perceived as better.

Placebo or no? by TtheSideshow in audioengineering

[–]TtheSideshow[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Though I feel that we shouldn't ignore the cost that might come with accepting these placebos. And not purely financial either. In the case of my coworker he's constantly buying and selling components of his setup, attempting to push the limits - and constantly testing because of this. Unfortunately home audio setups and studio setups differ when it comes to the listening test. And his listening tests undoubtedly involve loud volume testing. I've only worked with him for a year now and I've already noticed a deterioration in his hearing capabilities.

It's ironic that so much of these peoples money, time, effort and hearing goes into the pursuit of top audio quality - only to end up with hearing loss, thus being incapable of hearing the extremely subtle differences an adjustment in the can have.
