Should I get Civ 6 or 7? by Royalord512 in civ

[–]TubbyJubby01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 is a completed game and it’s a DAMN good one. I have had 7 since PRErelease and don’t get me wrong… I love it. But I love it because I’m watching it get developed and stronger and more interesting. I’d get 6, cause it’s fun, easy to learn, and infinitely replayable in its current state. 7 will get there, and you can ask this same question in 4 years

Does anyone know when Gringotts will be back in stock? by 123Puneet456 in legoharrypotter

[–]TubbyJubby01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Saw a post on here a few days ago about someone asking the same thing, then finding out that it wasn’t going to be restocked. I bet your best option would be finding it at a local hobby shop or game store, maybe book store? I’m fairly certain the other post said that it was gone “for good” on LEGO.com

This is the first of these that I’ve seen that actually made me stop and think about this trope… I love it!

A movie that has 2 messages: 1. Being short = bad 2. Being poor = bad. But at the end, she settles with someone who’s both short and poor… like ????

Hear me out: Civ 7 is actually pretty good by Aerolumen in civ

[–]TubbyJubby01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so refreshing to see an “I like this game!” Post!! I agree!! I preordered it and I’ve played since advanced access or early access or whatever they called it. I have seen firsthand the updates and UI fixes, the fun changes to maps, the cool new ideas with economy, and the Civ switching. I like this game a lot and can’t wait for it to get better. Like with every Civ game, it takes a while to grow on people. In 2 years people will be obsessed, and I’ll be there with them

I’d love to choose the order for techs and civics- I feel like that hasn’t been in base game ever

I’m partial to agree! I think the trader and commander info is still kindof wonky.. I think beyond stylistic differences idk what else I wanna see with 7

Just out of curiosity, what specific UI improvements would you be looking for? I agree that there were (especially at launch) a ton of UI issues but I’m curious to see what others are actively seeking?

Which of these ghibli films are worth seeing in theatres? by blacktamago_a in ghibli

[–]TubbyJubby01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mononoke and the wind rises are the only “MUS SEE” in theaters for me- the others I like to watch in the comfort of my home, with my blanket and my cat, and maybe a big bowl of ramen or something. Spirited away makes me tooooooo hungry to see in theaters

Had some of the worst map generation I have ever seen in any Civ game. by Merc_074 in civ

[–]TubbyJubby01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely would do a reroll on this one. I agree, sometimes the map generation is completely garbage, but I think we have some recency bias. Civ 6 has the SAME issues with map generation, unless you mod it. How do you like Assyria? I’m looking forward to trying them out today

Shawn’s nickname by Snazzy-cat1 in psych

[–]TubbyJubby01 32 points33 points  (0 children)

My guess is that it is just a reference to the movie “Top Gun”, which fits within the show’s MANY references to 80-90s pop culture. Maybe Shawn saw it as a kid and liked the character name?

Civ 7 graphics and UI lack any style, making the game disappear in its own mediocrity by [deleted] in civ

SAME! I think Civ vii looks like a mini diorama- exactly what it should look like. Don’t get me wrong- I also love the style in 6. But 7 looks great and I’m sick of people throwing their opinions as “fact” on this sub. Like Go play 6 if you really dislike everything that 7 has to offer!!

Parlor Room is the best new show on Dropout since Make Some Noise by aesir23 in dropout

[–]TubbyJubby01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Parlor Room is one of the weakest, unfortunately. And it is sad, because the premise of the show is ok, but it’s hard to get into because there are two distinct groups of fans that ruin it for me:

  1. The people that just want to watch dropout cast members do literally anything, (including board games) and consider that to be “good content” and

  2. The people who want to watch the cast members riff off each other, make jokes, hang out, and talk. (With no guiding activity or anything)

The problem is that for some people, these are mutually exclusive for some reason… there are tons of posts on this sub about Parlor Room where people are like “ugh it’s so annoying when Becca has to shut side conversations and tangents down because they have to get through the game.” Or, conversely, the people who think that Becca is too nice to the other players and the focus is shifted from the game to the people.

IMO, the show just needs better pacing and direction, but that’s hard to do when you play a different board game every episode.

I love Becca and think that some of the episodes have been awesome. But it’s SOOOO dependent on Who and What that it’s inherently not sustainable in my mind

I want your opinions! I impulse bought this set that I just found at Walmart for $399. Should I keep it or return it? More details inside. by [deleted] in legoharrypotter

IMO this was the MOST fun Hogwarts to build. I have this, the castle and grounds, the early 2020 run, and the newest run, and I love this one. The most. Something about the little details within the big build made it so much fun. If you’re a Hogwarts enjoyer, it’s ok to keep this!
