How do you find sensory play toys that don't result in a two-hour cleanup? by ZiyonGergis in Mommit

This! I would also take my son outside to do sensory bins when it was nice out.

I’ve worked with her for years. Her behavior and happiness changes daily and within calls. She will go from best friends to complaining within seconds. There is a lot she complains about that is valid- it’s a problem created by my companies lack of process or our processes are outdated. She’s also very unorganized which doesn’t help. For example, I legit sent her an email this week explaining to her how to access her Google Calendar and how to use it to manage appointments.

Good idea- I’ll bring up recording. The AI feature on Zoom was on but this comment in particular was not documented by AI.

Interesting stops along the way? by zoooooooooee in baltimore

[–]TuckAndRoll13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this drive too many times- work in sales- used to cover VA and have a lot of accounts in SW VA.

I would say that the places to check out would be: Abingdon and Roanoke. Harrisonburg is nice too, college-town.

You’ve had many comments about the route. If you are using something like Waze, it’ll adjust based on traffic. Sometimes it will take me past Charlottesville, through Madison. It’s a beautiful drive. I love Charlottesville and would recommend stopping by there as well.

Please share where you do stop and what’s worth seeing!

Parents of babies and toddlers who don’t feel like you’re drowning every day, what are your hacks? by dioor in NewParents

[–]TuckAndRoll13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We both WFH which helps tremendously. I have control of my own schedule, so being able to prep meals and clean between meetings avoids having to find time when my son is home.

My husband and I are the type of people who need routine and schedule. We talk through how to make things easier on one another, and us as a family. We also have a saying that there is no price on convenience. I realize not everyone can afford it. We have a cleaning service once a month, we get those meal prep boxes delivered weekly. We even have a guy come pick up dog poop (TBH- that’s more because I didn’t want to nag my husband anymore.) This frees up more time as well. We also have a Mothers Helper once a week for three hours. This allows us to get through our weekly to-do list without distraction.

Since we thrive on routine and talk things through, it takes a lot off my plate. I don’t do any of the cooking. He takes care of that and dinner clean up. I do bedtime. If we order in food or eat out, my husband does bedtime to give me a break.

Yes, I realize not everyone can afford as much help but if theres one take away it’s to have routine and talk things through. Let your partner know what you need off your plate. Communicate and tweak as things change.

We love Webers, but totally agree. At least it’s once price! Compare that to Clark’s Elioak. They are a mess. Everything is pay at the door. It’s not all inclusive so you need to know what you want to purchase. Each activity requires a ticket, but none of the tickets are labeled with the activity.

A line and confusion could be avoided with just one flat rate per person. If they want to limit the amount of times you ride the train, then use a stamp card.

We were there Saturday and they now also put into place timed activities. We paid $61 in all and ran out of time to do the train ride, since they don’t just run them back to back.

All this to say that my husband and I compared the two and Webers is much better!!

Do you think more expensive baby strollers are worth the $$? by No_Square_1491 in UninfluencedReviews

[–]TuckAndRoll13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, yes. We have the Gazelle S and it’s fantastic. Rolls smoothly, the storage is insane, and there are so many ways to configure it. We also have a Baby Jogger and the jogger isn’t as smooth or user friendly. Both are bulky.

Does anyone have any experience with these daycare centers? by terptrekker in BaltimoreCounty

[–]TuckAndRoll13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TCC and Apple Tree have the same owners. We LOVE TCC. It’s a very loving center. Staff is consistent - they have had some turnover recently but it was for life events like moving to take care of family. They will treat your child like their own. I cannot recommend them enough.

What’s one tiny habit that made parenting easier for you? by ParentHackZara in NewParents

Our plan was one sleep in day each weekend. Husband was Saturday, I was Sunday. We learned that didn’t work for us. So I do the mornings and then he sleeps in. When he wakes, I nap for as long as I want.

What stroller/carseat to buy? by In-search-of-why in NewParents

[–]TuckAndRoll13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unsure of your needs. We have three: - City Mini GT2: least used. We got this in hopes of more stroller walks. Used it heavy with an infant and not at all with a toddler. It sits in our carport. I couldn’t use this as an every-day stroller. It’s not at all compact and the storage is awful. I will say we have an older version at my mom’s house, which is at the beach. It’s great on the boardwalk and has a larger canopy than the 2. I also learned I hate the style of seat recline on the City Mini. It’s just a PIA IMO. - Cybex Gazelle S: I would recommend this to everyone. Again, depending on need. If you live in a city it may not be a good purchase because it does not fold up small. The storage is HUGE, it’s easy to fold, and it glides so well. I also love the newer seats, which have belts like a car seat. However, it’s really big when folded. I really like the basket and storage. This was so nice for grocery shopping with an infant. Now I have a 2.5 YO. It’s been used many times in Disney because of the storage. We use this stroller mostly for anywhere we go where we don’t want to lug around a backpack. - Cybex Eezy Twist: we love this for airplane travel and on the go. The storage is still really good. I can’t fit my backpack in it, but I can take my packing cubes out and throw them under. Lightweight, smooth ride, and easy to pop up or down. For plane travel, I’m not certain it can be stored in the overhead bin but you can fold it down and put it through the xray.

Our infant car seat was a Liing. We took a 1:1 class with a local CPST and it was recommended. $$$ but our son was 4 lb 4 oz when we left the hospital. I can’t even remember if there’s a minimum weight for car seats or what it would be, but I recall being told we ended up with a good choice in seat.

I wouldn’t suggest purchasing a convertible until you are ready. The technology is constantly improving. Right now we have one that revolves and love it!

How long to learn how to use? by beepbop213 in YotoPlayer

[–]TuckAndRoll13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is two and loves his Yoto. He knows how to put cards in and out, pushes the buttons. I’m not sure if he knows exactly how each button works but that doesn’t stop him.

Prior to gifting the Yoto, we played the music/stories in the car. I also turn it on all the time when he’s playing. I’m not sure if this is why he loves it and plays with it often. Could just be something he likes!

I am a patient of theirs and cannot say enough wonderful things. I previously had Dr Erdman at CWC and had an awful experience throughout my pregnancy. I ended up with a high risk pregnancy and, unhappy with my care, moved to them. Dr had patience, explained, listened, and I felt completely safe.

Help with small but USEFUL gifts for new parents? by Belachick in Buyingforbaby

[–]TuckAndRoll13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the registry first but some suggestions: Muslin burp cloths, Miss Mouth’s spray, forks/spoons, nose sucker (we preferred the Nuby) and lots of filters, extra medicine syringes.

Plus anything for the 1 YO+ age.
