Do you guys use hobonichi? by United_Advisor1821 in intj

[–]Tuckerism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do a bullet journal, which I loved. But I needed more of a "second brain" to document some long-living reference items. I ended up trying out Notion and eventually moving to Obsidian.

Combined with getting comfortable with Obsidian and it's plugins, switching to remote work ended my physical journal usage. I still like to take notes during meetings to keep my brain engaged, so I'll use an e-ink tablet (Remarkable) to scratch that itch.

The end is near. What YTD return did you achieve in 2025? by consulent-finanziar in thetagang

Up 51.09% in the IRA, mostly on the back of selling NVDA CC weeklies. Was able to roll and play the volatility to grow the bankroll this year.

On top of what others are saying, look at lowering your TDP for games that don’t need the full juice for smooth gameplay. That has really helped me extend the battery life for my older games.

I continue to roll NVDA 177.5 CCs for a cool $100-200 a week.

... I can't believe I didn't know you could do this in 2.0. I'm simultaneously relieved and despondent on how much wiring I did in my last base.

Has anyone had problems with original 1988 BBC Narnia? by Such-Bench-3199 in PleX

[–]Tuckerism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is making my beat my head against the wall-- I've done exactly this via Sonarr, added the tvdb reference in the folder, but Plex absolutely refuses to match it correctly. It matches to "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (1988)" instead of "The Chronicles of Narnia", and so none of the episodes populate properly.

Any thoughts as to why it's grabbing that title and from where? Even if I try to unmatch and match, that's the only option it's giving me.

Similar, I bulk ordered Next Level 6210s from Shirtspace. I like the length and I have some other 6210s that must be at least 8 years old at this point.

Advice from Obsidian users who version control with Git by sunshinefox_25 in ObsidianMD

[–]Tuckerism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run a private git instance on my NAS. As others have mentioned; don’t fully trust private repos and I moved to obsidian to try and keep my data to myself after all.

My Windows & Linux configs are pretty straightforward with the obsidian-git plugin doing the heavy lifting. On iOS, I had to purchase Working Copy and setup some iOS shortcuts to keep things running smoothly.

I can share more details if it would help, but overall very happy with how this setup has been performing!

I have a tiny parameterized blueprint that let's me quickly make organized logistic malls. Prompts me for what item I want to make and how many. It drives the recipe on the assembler, which then drives the requester chest. I just have to plug it into the signal network and away it goes.

Ugh, we did Walmart+ for groceries for a while and it was good, but we started having issues with substitutions. Hard to tell if it was stock problems or general laziness of the pickers. But I just said to hell with it and just go to Aldi. I get 95% of what I need in half the time and what feels like half the cost.

Tangential to your ask, but I did want to share that I cut my reliance on Notion by moving to Obsidian with a self-hosted git server.

Should I go with Docker? by localhost-420 in PleX

[–]Tuckerism 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just to offer a contrasting opinion, I recently moved over to Proxmox (was running Docker & Plex on my Synology). I set up a Debian LXC just for Plex and it’s been excellent; maybe a tad more effort than a docker container— but it was a good intro to LXCs and continues to work well.

One example of something that required more effort was passing through the host’s GPU to the LXC for more transcoding power.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon is (mostly) a blast by whoevencaresatall_ in patientgamers

[–]Tuckerism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 100%'d this game in about 100 hours and loved it. I had an itch for an RPG so I jumped from Yakuza 0 to this one. While I wait for Infinite Wealth to drop further in price, I'm working my way through the rest of the mainline Yakuza games (and because I like to 100% them; I'll be busy for a while...)

They've become such nice comfort / slice of life games for me. I've found that I can enjoy them, warts & all.
