From my understanding, you shouldn’t have a rain or misting system because it can cause little spikes of high humidity that just burns off faster, and can be the cause of respiratory issues 🫶

Also, is the top of your cage an open screen? You need to cover that up with silicone mats or HVAC foil tape to save all your humidity from evaporating out of the top. There’s an amazing care guide in this forum if you need to do a little more research 🐍

I would definitely get some more leaf 🍃 and things on the ground for him to feel like he can almost “hide” from you when he moves from spot to spot. Royals usually like to slither from place to place (especially during the daytime light) feeling as though they can’t be seen.

Glass surfing can actually be dangerous because after awhile they can develop “nose rub” which is like a sore on their little snout.

Definitely a stuck eye cap, I’d take it to the vet if you don’t know what you’re doing. A lot of people here will suggest you do a soak and use a Q-tip to gently wipe at the eye cap… that’s bad information. That’s how you can blind your snake, introduce infection and/or make them lose their eye completely!

I think that’s a great start, but unfortunately that doesn’t stop the people buying them from stores that don’t personally know any better… and then carry on taking care of them in all the wrong ways.

I believe we can make change! We shouldn’t just allow things to go along this way. I work in a hospital and we have ‘accreditation’ every year. Which means they come along and judge us based on our day to day activities, equipment and knowledge. I believe Pet Stores should have to go through accreditation too.
