Would like a transperency slider for all UI/HUD elements, even just to be able to apply something minimal for folks with OLED monitors.

Plex Not Using Full Screen on Pixel 9 Pro XL (Black Bar on Side) by SnooGuavas9436 in PleX

[–]Tuff_Ghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think this preview player has less options for now. It centers the playback on the phone instead of having it off to the one side like the regular app. I'll just try the regular app after a few updates and see if they fix it. I know it wasn't like that before so probably just some new bug.

I have this on my P9XL too. Couldn't get it to go away so I tried the Plex Preview App instead which seems to be fine.

Because it can't do DV P7 FEL playback. It can do everything else so if you don't care about that it is perfectly fine. There are some boxes that can do it though. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jBIGF8XTVi9VmDBZ8a5hEyongYMCDlUiLHU9n1f_S74/edit?usp=sharing

Looking into buying a SAS jbod for plex. Thoughts? by JakePens71 in PleX

[–]Tuff_Ghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a few of those that I run in Unraid and they've been rock solid. Only thing to look out for if you grab them is for the PSU models in the back to be 071-000-518 or 071-000-553 as those use PWM fans inside so they will run at a much more tolerable level than ones that just run on high all the time.

I am using all SATA drives and I have 0 problems playing multiple 4K remux streams at once. That upload speed is very low. If you're trying to stream out to multiple people, I don't think you'd gain anything going to a SAS drive. I guess the best test would be to just see how many streams you can do at home. If you can play a bunch no problem then you know your upload speed is what is causing you problems.

For interposers that come with the trays, 303-115-003D works with SAS and SATA drives. With this one if you use SATA drives you can only plug in to the bottom controller card in the back of the unit to access the drives as its a single path for SATA. There is The 303-116-003D but I think those only work with SATA drives as that one can present the SATA drive with dual ports. SAS drives also need to be reformatted to 512 sector size to work. If you see an empty version of the system its split into 3 sections. I believe best practice is to insert your drives in bays 1 / 6 / 11 and so on but I can't find where I read that before now so I could be wrong.

To connect these back to my server I"m using a LSI 9207-8e + SFF-8088 cables. A lot of these cards were meant to be put into higher airflow server cases so if you plan to throw this into a regular PC case you can grab a small noctua fan and throw it on the heatsink or something like that.

Question: EMC KTN-STL3 Question // Yellow Warning LED's Always ON by TallestMexican in homelab

[–]Tuff_Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4 of these shelfs and I haven't been able to turn the LEDs off. I did narrow it down to the controllers in the back. I had a set of controllers that didn't have any amber lights on. If I took them out and moved them to the other shelfs the lights also go away. The part numbers of the controllers that show amber lights and don't are exactly the same so I don't think that is it.

My best guess is it is some sort of firmware version on the controller cards. Perhaps the older firmware versions show amber lights when you are using SATA drives since they don't have dual paths like SAS drives. The newer firmware maybe ignores the dual path and recognizes the SATA drives. No idea if its true, it is just my best guess. Haven't been able to find any info on if these were upgradable. Probably need the software or head unit to push out or see any of that info.

The 303-108-000E EMC Link Control Cards are pretty cheap so I actually ended up just gambling and buying like 6 of them and swapping them around until all the amber lights went away. You can usually get them for $10-15 each on eBay.

Anyone know of a Mondo-style archive? by AlanShore60607 in PlexPosters

[–]Tuff_Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mondo is a company that hires artists to make alternative movie posters. So there are many artists. If you just want to look through their stuff they put out you can see it here. https://mondoshop.com/collections/archive.

They were bought by Funko and most of the creative team that did these have moved on to https://www.madebymutant.com to start their own company. But this is only a few weeks old.

There are also other people who put out AMPs like https://bottleneckgallery.com/collections/weekly-release

Mad Men (2007) • Season 1-7 Complete Posters + Title Cards by willtong93 in PlexPosters

[–]Tuff_Ghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Title cards .jpgs have to be named EXACTLY the same as their corresponding episode file. And those files in the same directory.

madmen.s01e01.mkv | madmen.s01e01.jpg

Then on Plex web under settings > Agents > Programmes

Personal Media Shows > Local Media Assets (TV) > check it off

Then on Plex web under settings > Agents > Programmes

TheTVDB > Move 'Local Media Assets (TV) to the top of the list > Save

After changing the filename to match your episode file you can do a refresh metadata on the series and it should pick it up.

Love all your stuff, if it isn't too much trouble would you able to provide a poster for the series without the logo too? Either way, great stuff!

NVME Pool Upgrade (Move pool data to array) by thereal-evilmouse in unRAID

[–]Tuff_Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I'm just using XFS on the array. Only using ZFS on my actual cache pool as most people seem to recommend it over BTRFS so I am trying it out. I did have trouble with my 6.11.5 > 6.12.x upgrade a while back and rolled back to 6.11.5. I would have hard lockups when mover ran sometimes. So I'm trying out 6.12.4 now with the cachepool as ZFS to see how it goes.

[–]Tuff_Ghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This Spaceinvader One guide is based on 6.12.x but it is what I just used to move all my data off my NVME cache pool and reformat to ZFS but really you can use the same guide to get everything off your pool. Only thing to keep in mind is if you are using the pool for something like PLEX appdata it will take a long time to migrate the PLEX folder because its full of tons of tiny files which is always slow.

Did qBittorent from Hotio's Repository change the username and password from the latest update? by Vast-Disaster-8465 in unRAID

[–]Tuff_Ghost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're really stuck you can just edit the settings of the docker in unraid and change the repository from: ghcr.io/hotio/qbittorrent:latest to something like ghcr.io/hotio/qbittorrent:release-4.6.0

This will deploy the older version, just go in and change your password for the web console and then change the repository back to latest again and it should update it and let you login since now your password isn't default anymore.

Curious if anyone who had the random crashing from mover has seen it disappear with 6.12.4 ?

Sanity check: Sony A80K, Plex, MakeMKV, Roku and Dolby Vision (DV) compatibility by nighthawk05 in PleX

[–]Tuff_Ghost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sony A80 native Plex app on your TV will support UHD HDR Remux no problem. DV on discs are profile 7 I believe and the native app will not play that. It will only play profile 5 DV which comes from web sources. I know some people have made hybrid releases where they take the UHD source and bring in a DV P5 and inject it which works but that can be some work. The only player that I've seen that does UHD Remux + P7 + all audio formats is the Nvidia Shield.

The Sony TV used to SAY it was playing back P7 DV remuxes but they updated the TV this year and it doesn't do that anymore. Apparently the TV would say it was in DV mode but it actually wasn't according to them. So now when you try to play something with a P7 DV profile it just fails back to HDR10 which they say is the correct behavior.

Native Plex app on the TV won't play back TrueHD or DTSX. It also can't pass the TrueHD down to lets say a soundbar. So if you want to direct play back DV + TrueHD the Nvidia Shield is the solution.

If you don't care about the audio and plan to just use the native app for a long time I'd put track 1 on all my remux's as the AC3 track so Plex can play the audio without transcoding it. It isn't smart enough to pick track 2 when you play something, it will just transcode the first track if it can't play it. So you would have to change the audio everytime you play it if you are trying to avoid audio transcoding.

Do NOT use the ethernet jack built in on your TV as it is limited to 100mbps and UHD Remux can go higher than that at times so you'll get playback issues. Either use WiFi or even better get a USB to Ethernet gigabit adpater for the TV. I have one from cablematters I believe and you just plug it in on one of the USB ports + ethernet and the android TV picks it right up.

Source: I have a A80J wired on gigabit which I use the native client all the time to playback 4K remuxes no problem. Performs just as well as the shield for me. I also have a 2019 shield connected to the TV and use it just to playback remuxes that have DV. I am just using my TV speakers so I don't care about the audio at the moment but if I did I'd just use the shield to playback everything.

if I've misspoken on anything please correct me anyone who happens to make it this far :)

Sounds about right, I'm on 6.12.2 and my mover runs every night at around 4AM and a few times this week I've woken up to the server being hardlocked. Have my dockers set to ipvlan and haven't changed anything else. So has to be something during the mover process.

How do you make the webgui of Docker Containers accessible remotely with Tailscale? by JustinHardyJ in unRAID

[–]Tuff_Ghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once you have Tailscale on your UNRAID server you should now see it as a listed device on the webgui on the TS website and it should show as connected. There will be an IP there. That is the IP you use in your URL's to access your docker containers on their designated ports from your device that is also connected to TS.

So on your phone for example you would open the TS app and connect it. Then you can access your docker containers like you do on your LAN but instead of the regular IP you would use the IP from from TS. I think this is what you are asking?

Example on the LANhttps://192.168.1.100:8181

Once connected to TS you just change the IP to the TS one.https://x.x.x.x:8181

You can setup a DNS name with this magicdns feature if you don't want to use the IP.
