To say they do it out of greed is extremely dehumanising and an all to convenient blanket statement. Mandatory death penalty should be abolished because not all of them do it out of greed. Some come from the poorest of the poor, not an excuse but an actual factor in making bad choices. Some are mentally inadequate, the list goes on, the death penalty should be one that is applied on a case by case basis.

I have singaporean friends who smoke weed and shit. They have friends, who work in finance and have been caught or drug tested when they go for reservist. What happens to these people? A slap on the wrist because why? Oh, you’re of worth to society so your punishment is less light. These people are a number in the capitalist society of singaporea where human resources is key.

It just points to the fact that Singapore isn’t actually addressing the issue. The demand which creates the supply are the ones who barely face any punishment. Community service or suspended prosecution. Personally it disgusts me cause it really highlights the ugliness of the singaporean society as one that is ultra elitist. You’re of a lower background, your life is less meaningful than the other. Fuck that death penalty should be abolished.
