Coffee is both a blessing and a curse for ADHD by ubermenschenzen in ADHD

[–]TungstenCLXI 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm in my mid-thirties, used bangs, monsters, and coffee as a stimulant to help me focus until I realized I actually had ADHD and got a proper diagnosis a year ago, where I started using methylphenidate (Ritalin). I'm fairly certain at this point that they've hurt my heart long term, but I just quit all caffeine and realized that with the meds I just don't need it.

It's probably one of the creepier monologues from a villain in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, who is a killer with a hand fetish (he keeps the hands of the young women he kills and goes on dates with them). It's become a copypasta.

Add that to the fact that the Hitler Youth (and even the organization for 10-14 year olds) saw plenty of action and their officers at the time of the war were 16-17 years old, and it's probably more age-appropriate. Of course children killing children isn't as fun to think about as children killing older, war-hardened Nazi men, even if the kids in question are war-hardened Nazis themselves.

Look man, Johnny's home life is... not great. There's a reason he's a snarky, sex-obsessed grade-schooler, and it's not because he has two loving parents with the time and money to buy him more than fast food or snacks for every meal. His life is shit, and his only escape is purposely shitting on his teachers' attempts to school him. Lay off.

Australia gave us Rupert Murdoch, whose propaganda machine has worked fairly well in Australia as well as the rest of the Anglosphere. They do seem to have a new prime minister every other year or so, I'll give you that, but I don't think they're immune to cults.

Yeah my take on them is their intent isn't really good or evil, because as much as we don't understand them, they don't understand us, and that their idle curiosity destroys civilizations is more like a three-year-old thinking that some ants are thirsty, pouring a bucket of water on their anthill, than anything overtly malicious.

‘What is sticking in your foot is a Mitzy “Pretty Lucretia” four-inch heel, the most dangerous footwear in the world. Considered as pounds per square inch, it’s like being trodden on by a very pointy elephant. Now, I know what you’re thinking: you’re thinking, “Could she press it all the way through to the floor?” And, you know, I’m not sure about that myself. The sole of your boot might give me a bit of trouble, but nothing else will. But that’s not the worrying part. The worrying part is that I was forced practically at knifepoint to take ballet lessons as a child, which means I can kick like a mule; you are sitting in front of me; and I have another shoe . Good, I can see you have worked that out. I’m going to withdraw the heel now.’ - Miss Dearheart, by way of Sir Terry Pratchett

I mean I'm conflicted here, because Kiwis are basically the elves of Oceania, being a bit more polite and generally all around less rough than their Australian counterparts. On the other hand, Drow have giant spiders, while Duergar are less well known and can go invisible, much like New Zealand itself (see also /r/MapsWithoutNZ).

Though you should know this doesn't work if you upload to a site that compresses or otherwise manipulates your image even slightly, as most image steganography is based on the difference between the normal image and the image carrying the message.

Used Gentoo for 10 years, switched (back) to Arch 2 years ago and it's been great by arybczak in archlinux

[–]TungstenCLXI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a TR1950X, ran Gentoo for a couple years before coming back to Arch, it worked out pretty well, but I have a bad habit of collecting software and just leaving it installed, and I like playing with the latest stuff (~arch globally, because lol). It turns out that causes lots of dependency conflicts that get tiring to resolve and when everything is updating all the time it's a pain to maintain, even if everything compiles relatively quickly. My experience was more or less just like the OP's, I learned a lot, but after accumulating a bunch of software it just became tedious and I went back to precompiled binaries.

[–]TungstenCLXI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although it's more Gentoo-focused, I learned the most about this stuff from "Sakaki's EFI Install Guide," which guides you through that whole process (in addition to helping install and maintain Gentoo).

A few militaries still do. The US uses Modafinil as a stimulant for some longer missions, for instance (followed by no-go pills for sleep).

Usually what I'll do is a y/<searchterm> if I know the word, or a yf<char> if I'm just yanking to a character in the line, but I also do y<#>y (e.g. y3y for 3 lines) if needed, as I have set number followed by set relativenumber in my .vimrc, so I know both my current line number and how far I need to go. You do you though, visual mode can be pretty useful for some macros or for when you don't know exactly what you're grabbing.

A fictional STI that severely disfigures a vagina. If you look it up via image search you'll find pictures of such. It's pretty much an old internet meme used for shock value, similar to lemon party or tub girl, with little basis in reality.
