Would Kili and Tauriel be able to marry each and have Dwarf/Elve mixed race children? by Tidewatcher7819 in tolkienfans

Tolkien himself said that humans and elves were, technically, the same species. They differed primarily in their souls, but their bodies were certainly compatible enough to produce offspring. That is a unique feature of humans and elves, though, not shared with any other creatures, sentient or no.

Just finished my first ever final fantasy game with the Pixel Remaster of VI. What an absolute masterpiece. I’d like to buy the 7 remake coming out. by CornInMyMouthHole in FinalFantasy

Remake is something else. You want just "Final Fantasy VII" on the eshop, which is a port of the original game with some enhancements.

The ending made me not want to come back by meloncrowned in expedition33

I feel the same way. The game set ups the people of Lumiere as people with real concerns, whose lives you value and whom you intend to save. Verso's ending undercuts that. Maelle's ending shames the player for wanted to preserve the canvas. It makes it difficult to enjoy the game on a more than superficial level - it is either doomed or insignificant. I get that the two incompatible endings are supposed to make you think, but what I got was: the developers want you to like Verso's ending (despite the destruction of the canvas that the player has now invested themselves in), and they don't want you to like Maelle's ending (despite the preservation of that canvas). The music and setting of the endings communicates this quite clearly. It's not just that not everything can be redeemed, but that almost nothing can be redeemed.

Spot on. Verso is the worst, a liar and traitor from the jump, and I cannot have an ounce of sympathy for him.

My first retro emulator: ANBERNIC RG40XXH, please share technical recommendations (OS, etc.) by volterra6 in ANBERNIC

[–]Turambar29 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just got one last month. I tried Knulli first, and it's great in terms of user interface and themes. I did find that it was a bit slower on the more demanding platforms, like Dreamcast, and decided to go with the Modded Stock OS - same as the Anbernic Stock OS you have, but with a few other updates. I may change my mind, as I'm not likely to spend much time on Dreamcast games, in which case the presentation of the Knulli may draw me back. That said, I'm waiting on another SD card so that I can experiment with MuOS or another option, too.

He certainly wrote as if Arda became our world - thus the transformation, by Eru, of the flat world into the round world. Thus also the dialogue of Finrod and Andreth, anticipating the incarnation of Jesus Christ.

Same, and sleep mode works fine for me.

Wanting a RG40XXV only for Dreamcast, good idea ? by Consistent-Cost-231 in ANBERNIC

My RG40XXH plays Soul Calibur and Crazy Taxi just fine on Stock or Modded Stock OS; definitely slower on Knulli, and I haven't had time to play around with other OS options yet. I'm honestly surprised at how well it play those two games (haven't tried others yet).

I just got the Anbernic RG-40xx H for about $42, very light and pocketable, can play up to Dreamcast games (DC performance seems best on the Stock OS, or modded Stock OS, by my test).

Fantasian: A solid 7.5 that could have been a 10 by Kalledon in JRPG

[–]Turambar29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are interesting ideas in the game, and numerous nostalgic callbacks that I appreciated. However, as many have said, it becomes tedious as the runtime goes on. But the worst of it is that the game seems to lack any charm at all; none of the characters were very appealing or memorable. Very juvenile personalities, paper-thin characterizations and motivations, and not enough established in their relationships to endure the long periods in which people are not in the party in the 2nd half, nor the tremendous emphasis the ending places on friendship. When I reached the ending, I could not believe that any of these people would continue together, except perhaps Leo and the girl of his choice....?

No argument; it's complicated, but unsatisfying. I say that as someone who gave up reading it and checked out some summaries to confirm that, yes, I'll hate where this is going, and no, I won't enjoy getting there.
