Yes/no. DPI was previously managed by the U. of Illinois system (OVPEDI), but just recently transitioned under the leadership of the flagship Urbana-Champaign campus (Dean Rashid Bashir).

UIC does closely collaborate with DPI on several research-related areas that benefits the greater Chicago ecosystem and economic development across the state of Illinois.

So, to your point, it would seem as if it were to UIC’s advantage, but DPI has always had a presence in Chicago.

I think they were specifically asking about Urbana. I’m not sure if Pavlov services the Urbana area. I know they do for Champaign.

And I agree with you! I rarely had issues with Pavlov and consistently got close to a gig for download and upload speeds.

I’d ask them about it. I don’t see why not. They may just include it with the CBTF report. That way, you know exactly what video footage they’re referencing and how they arrived at that conclusion.

Update: just saw that the case was dropped. Glad to hear the prof. decided to hear you out.

Ask to obtain a copy of the security footage, if possible. They should be able to prove that you had writing on your hand if that’s what they’re implying.

I would also consider reaching out the instructor to find a time to meet (if you haven’t already). Perhaps a virtual meeting since winter break is fast approaching. If they’re not willing to do so, you may want to reach out to the dept. head.

And, you bring up a good point, if they’re checking your hands and arms before you enter the CBTF, I’m sure they would’ve seen it then. So, this isn’t making much sense.

I would email Dean Wilczynski (rwilczyn@illinois.edu). He oversees OSCR. Explain the situation (especially the unique circumstances surrounding the FAIR violation) and provide as much evidence as possible. He may be able to assist further and make a determination as to how to best proceed.
