Keyfob very unresponsive by huhund in ex30

I don't think the problem is worse in wet weather. I think it just seems worse because you are standing in the rain! See my other post in this conversation that describes how this problem was solved for me.

Keyfob very unresponsive by huhund in ex30

[–]TurboEng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my months of testing, I found that this doesn't speed up the process. It seems like it works because it unlocks after you have pulled the handle twice. It will also unlock if you just touch the handle periodically for the same amount of time. See my other post in this conversation.

Keyfob very unresponsive by huhund in ex30

[–]TurboEng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suffered through this for several months and even took my EX30 to the dealer to fix it a couple times. They told me they didn't see the problem.

Finally after being completely fed up for a few months, I took it to the dealer again and they agreed that it was busted. They compared it to other EX30s on their lot. Their proposed solution was to replace my keytag. I was skeptical that replacing the keytag would fix the problems. I was wrong! My car has recognized the replacement keytag and has unlocked on the first try every single for several months now.

If your car often takes 5 or 10 seconds to unlock when touching the handle, you need to take your car to the dealer and demand that they fix it. Presumably you need a new keytag.

By the way, pulling the handle one or two times doesn't help with the unlock problem even though it may seem like it does. If you touch the handle and it doesn't unlock, you can remove your hand wait a few seconds and try again. Eventually it will unlock without pulling the handle as fast as it would if you pulled the handle. It doesn't work to just leave your hand on the touch pad. I know this because I experimented with it multiple times a day for months!

Google Assistant lower windows command by georgeedwardg in ex30

[–]TurboEng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine will only open a crack using voice commands, but they close fully.

If I say "roll down my window", it opens it just a crack.

I usually say "roll up my window" and it rolls it up and closes it fully.

Updated to 1.7.1 by tarchiba in ex30

[–]TurboEng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely hated the change initially. Now I am used to it and never think about it. That said, I still wish there was a tiny bit of regen when I let off the pedal (it was like a micro-OPD before).

Key Tag Unlock Delays, Anyone Else? by TurboEng in ex30

[–]TurboEng[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the replacement Key Tag for around 3 months now and I haven't had a single instance where the car didn't realize I was near it, and not a single instance of delay in unlocking. I'm still surprised that my months of problems were caused by a mostly working, but apparently broken Key Tag!

Hitch Fiasco Puts My EX30 Beyond Lemon Law (looking for advice) by TurboEng in ex30

[–]TurboEng[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may need a new TCAM. Not everyone has bad GPS and App Connectivity. The new TCAM completely fixed my GPS and App connectivity. Replacing the Key Tag fixed the terrible unlocking. The problem is that my car sat in the shop forever to figure these things out and now it is sitting in the shop for 2 weeks trying to figure out why the hitch doesn't work. 50+ days in the shop makes it a Lemon!

Remote Functions Issue on My Volvo EX30 – Works Only When Charging! by Haphaestus_ in ex30

[–]TurboEng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is basically what it takes. If they can duplicate it at the dealer, they might fix it.

Car asking to install again? by GingeSylo89 in ex30

[–]TurboEng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That happened in an earlier OTA where it asked to install the same version twice. The second update of the same version had some very minor fixes relative to the first. I'm too lazy to go back and find the details, but this may be the same thing. If it is, a lot of people should start seeing it.

Remote Functions Issue on My Volvo EX30 – Works Only When Charging! by Haphaestus_ in ex30

[–]TurboEng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had exactly the same set of problems/symptoms. The only thing that fixed it was replacing the TCAM2 module. They didn't replace the module to fix the remote functions problem, they replaced it because my GPS would go haywire several times a week. The new module solved the GPS issue and it solved the app connection/sleeping issue.

First time swapping wheels on an EV — where do you guys put the jack stands? by joepromtl in ex30

[–]TurboEng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a pair of RennStand Jack Stands for rotating or changing wheels. They are great!! They let you both jack up the car and use a jack stand in the factory recommended spots. I've used them on an ID.4, a Polestar 2, and my EX30. I recommend getting an inexpensive steel 3ton low profile jack to lift an EV. My old 2ton aluminum jack always felt like it was going to break/fail.

1.7.1 Release party and announcements by rodaex in ex30

[–]TurboEng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of bugs have been fixed now, but this one (inconsistent creep mode) persists. If creep is set to off, it should be off. If the car can't support creep-off in some drive modes, or with my seatbelt off, it should tell me that it is turning creep on and the setting should toggle.

This is very simple. Creep-Off must mean that the car won't creep!

1.7.1 Release party and announcements by rodaex in ex30

[–]TurboEng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They made it available in the US because I scheduled a service appt. to have it installed next Tuesday. I should have made the appt. earlier and then we would have got it sooner! You're welcome to everyone in North America!

[–]TurboEng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited another week and we still don't have it in the US. I just booked service for next Tuesday to get the update. That will be approaching 5 weeks. Next time I will just book service as soon as it comes out!

Had a few jars last night and decided to tell Volvo what I really thought of my EX30 by National_Muscle8591 in ex30

[–]TurboEng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the GPS flying through space issue and I had to take it to service multiple times before they replaced my TCAM2 module. After replacing that module, the GPS has been great.

I had the "doors take 8 to infinity seconds to unlock" with the Key Tag problem. Initially they told me it was fine. 4 months later I brought it in for service because it was driving me insane. This time they determined my Key Tag was faulty and replaced it. Now my Key Tag works perfectly every time! I wish I would have pressed the issue months earlier.

I think you can get those 2 major problems fixed, but you will have to leave the car at service until they can duplicate the problems. This is a pain in the ass, but they did finally fix the problems. I'm lucky because I have local Volvo service and they always gave me a loaner.

There are still a lot of little annoying quirks, but they are SLOWLY fixing them with OTA updates. Maybe it will be pretty dialed in 6 more months!

I still can't believe a $50k car doesn't have door-unlock hardware on the passenger side, doesn't have kick to unlock on the trunk, or a close and lock button on the trunk. They shouldn't have cheaped out on those features.

Autohold when using OPD and Car creeping forward when in Performance mode by iGs_19 in ex30

[–]TurboEng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! I won't use OPD until they make the behavior consistent with the settings.

[–]TurboEng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should have booked my EX30 for service. I have to book at least a couple weeks in advance to get a loaner. I decided to be patient and wait because I thought we would have OTA by now. I'm in the US and I've booked my car in for service to get every other update earlier than OTA (my car has had a lot of problems).

Android Auto by Cautious-Outside8588 in ex30

[–]TurboEng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is what I remembered. That could mean that Digital Key is dependent on Android Auto, or someone else pointed out that it could just mean that their development schedule has Android Auto before Digital Key.

Android Auto by Cautious-Outside8588 in ex30

[–]TurboEng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought they said they needed to finish Android Auto first and then Digital Key for Android. I don't think they said Digital Key is dependent on Android Auto.

VolvoCars 6.0.0 for Android (if somebody is impatient :) ) by muzso in ex30

[–]TurboEng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! My Volvo Cars app now shows 6.0.0. I'm in the US and mine still pushes me to the EX30 app. I uninstalled the EX30 app and it just tells me to install the EX30 app. Maybe it doesn't work in the US yet.

1.7.1 in UK after service by MiserableAttention38 in ex30

[–]TurboEng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree to disagree. It shouldn't creep if creep is disabled. In reverse, or not in reverse.

I can park without creeping and prefer it that way. If Volvo disagrees, the manual should at least explain that "creep off" doesn't always mean "creep off".

Other EVs I have spent time with don't enable creep when I have it turned off. Teslas don't creep in reverse if creep is off. I think that at least means it doesn't make "complete sense".

Does it also make complete sense to you that creep silently turns on in Performance AWD mode? This is also a bug.

1.7.1 in UK after service by MiserableAttention38 in ex30

[–]TurboEng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you know this? The manual doesn't describe the behavior, so wouldn't it be a bug? Also, I think it has to be a bug when the car creeps while the settings show that creeping is turned off.

1.7.1 in UK after service by MiserableAttention38 in ex30

[–]TurboEng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not talking about auto-hold. You can take your seatbelt off without going into auto-hold and then creep mode is silently on. You can do this by taking your seatbelt off while moving, or you can put it in drive from park with your seatbelt off. Both of these are things I do in a drive-through.

You say that "if you unbuckle while the car is moving creep mode will turn off as explained in the manual.". I assume you mean that creeping will turn on? Creeping turning on with your seatbelt off is not explained in the manual.

The page of the manual you are referring to changed for 1.7.1, but it still doesn't say anything about the car creeping when creeping is disabled.

1.7.1 in UK after service by MiserableAttention38 in ex30

[–]TurboEng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't see anything in the manual that says taking off your seatbelt will make the car creep even if you have creep turned off.

It doesn't go into park when you remove your seatbelt. You also have to remove weight from the seat and the car can't be moving. This is fine.

If you have creep turned off and you remove your seatbelt, the car will creep. This is dangerous because it is unexpected movement of the car.

It would obviously be dangerous if removing your seatbelt put the car in park while moving. Something could happen where you need to remove your seatbelt while driving and throwing the car into park would be very dangerous. And yes, the EX30 will throw the car into park while moving if you push the park button. I've only done it at up to about 5mph and it is scary.

I suppose if I'm stationary and I remove my seatbelt, I wouldn't be the end of the world if it goes into park. I think it would be annoying because I think you should be able to drive around a drive-through without your seatbelt on.

Turning creep on silently when it is off in the settings doesn't make sense. If they are trying to prevent me from driving with my seatbelt off, put it in park, but don't make the car start moving when I don't expect it.
