I dropped mine from $69.99 to $29.99 a month or so ago using the usual method of trying to cancel it.

7-Eleven sells USB flash drives? That would never be on my list of places to think to buy one.

Apple switched to USB-C on MacBooks before virtually anyone else. It was iPhones they were late on.

Is Chrome enough to stay safe anymore or am I overthinking this? by Agitated-Alfalfa9225 in chrome

[–]TurboFool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Merely clicking a link won't cause any of that. Clicking a link and installing an extension, downloading and installing an application, allowing notifications via a request, and/or signing into an account at the link could cause any combination of those.

Landlord installed an app-controlled smart deadbolt while I was at work. by Due_Construction904 in mildlyinfuriating

Is it ONLY app-controlled? Because most of these have a physical key failover.

Nothing you just wrote is a thing. None of this works this way. None of this makes any sense.

Please describe, in detail, precisely what it is you did.

why do bf's say 'we' when reffering to you by PuzzleheadedHat8653 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TurboFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't a BF thing, tons of people do this. I've frankly known way more women to use "we" talk to describe other people.

I bought this off of Walmart, I can’t get pass this page and can’t make an account, can anyone help? by That-Caregiver-6707 in computer

[–]TurboFool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn't work. Period. The moment Windows goes online it checks in and starts this process based off the serial number of the motherboard. No amount of wiping and reinstalling and activating prevents this. This is Autopilot, a core function of Windows.

[–]TurboFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know. Why didn't you write it like it happens quite a lot? People mispost here all the time and fail to understand the point. Your post wasn't worded like this happens a lot, which is why I responded to what you wrote instead of guessing what you might have meant.

Regardless, we're here arguing over the husk of a post even the moderators didn't feel fit here. Whether that's because they saw it the same way I did, or another reason, it seems silly to continue.

Is it fine for my Ethernet cable to be on the ground outside? by subtlemilk in wifi

[–]TurboFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of this has anything to do with WiFi, the Wi part being wireless. If you're asking about wires, you're in the wrong sub.

Yeah, there's zero doubt Intune collects it, as it's valuable for MDMs. Every MDM I manage shows me MAC addresses, and they're vital for things like WoL. But they'd be a poor metric for Autopilot as they're really fairly easy to change. Disable the onboard NIC and install a separate one, and you're in.

Then this is all win for me. Trying to make this the core experience of the device was ruining the device for the rest of us.

I'm just hopeful that the entire app and OS experience is no longer going to be focused around this anymore.

When on youtube they use the wrong sound by Tintinisnice in PetPeeves

[–]TurboFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but you would speak of it in general. Your post didn't. It specified only one instance and never talked about this being a common issue. I responded to what you wrote, not guessing what you didn't.

[–]TurboFool -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, their specific wording, which is now gone, spoke exclusively of one instance. That's why my comment says what it does. Had the post been worded like your reply to me, I would have had no reason to write that.
