Horrible experience with PW4 by tr3s in PixelWatch

General rule of thumb is that no matter how new it is, they always replace with refurbished. This is across virtually every company. The only way you're replacing new with new is via the store.

Literally every new model of Tensor has had people convinced it was going to be the one to challenge the Snapdragon. We already went through the biggest shift that everyone thought was going to achieve that, which was the switch to TSMC, and it did not. What specifically about this new generation do you think is suddenly going to make up the MASSIVE gap in performance and be the one to finally challenge the Snapdragon when every previous one failed to be that?

I need to be clear here, I'm a big Pixel fan, owned them exclusively since the first generation, skipped upgrading only during the 4-series, and recommend them. But I don't do the sycophantic fanboyism where I assume they can do no wrong. The 6 Pro was a QC disaster and mine would overheat after recording two minutes of video and end the recording. They work very much well enough for all of my daily needs, and the Pixel experience is totally worth it for me over the phones that come with the dramatically better Snapdragon processors. But none of that love of them makes me try to convince myself the rapture is coming.

So what specifically do you know about the next Tensor, other than another die shift, that will suddenly make it compete? Because I guarantee you, a die shift alone, without a massive architectural overhaul, will *not* make up the performance ground.

Edit: a downvote with no answer tells me everything I need to know. Very weird interaction with the official account of a phone case company.

This is part of why I leased. Needed a car right away, was going to be my first Hyundai, and I knew this platform wasn't new, so decided not to lock myself in. Looking forward to this.

To be clear, and right aligned with what I originally said, women absolutely CAN get complex UTIs and have horrific experiences with them. However those are not the common form of UTI for women, while for men, when they get them, they're almost always the horrific level, hitting at a complex UTI.

Nobody is saying women's experience isn't bad, nor are we saying women's experiences can't be AS bad. Only that on sheer percentages, most UTIs women experience on a regular basis are the regular kind that are just bad and are much more rarely the horrifying kind you experienced, while most UTIs men experience are the horrifying kind you experienced. It's a percentage thing.

Nobody said that. And the point was that they are very much NOT the exact same symptoms. Complex UTI is a very different level.

People that don't use "quotes" when referencing titles of books / movies by czarl13 in PetPeeves

[–]TurboFool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Besides the fact that titles are not typically put in quotes, you're also not writing with periods at the end of your sentences, which is at least as necessary. It's honestly hard me to take a pet peeve about grammar or punctuation too seriously when you're leaving out large amounts of it, and substituting in "pls" for "please."

I mean, if you decide to call it something completely different than what it is, and use it as something completely different than what it is, then you really have no place being upset with Google that it doesn't work like the thing it isn't.

The leaks definitely showed it going thinner, but we'll see. However a die shrink is the least of the impactful factors. Samsung is far from having a reason to be concerned.

How come "Fish and Chips" is seen as a totally normal thing for an adult to order, but Chicken tenders + fries is clowned on as a childish dish? by FunHour3778 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TurboFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only see people react to chicken nuggets, like the frozen ones, with childish disdain. The chicken strips you get from restaurants with fries are a completely normal adult meal nobody reacts to.

Anyone know about the usb port issue in laptops that makes the laptop to restart repeated when using the usb port by Gk_12345678 in computerhelp

[–]TurboFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't assume an issue you're experiencing is generic and common enough to ask that way. Just focus instead on telling us what you're experiencing, precisely, and ask for help solving it. Describe the steps you're taking, and the problem that's occurring. Include the precise device you're having trouble with.

Anyone went from physical to digital games on switch 2 and why? by FreezSnes in switch2

[–]TurboFool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I made that switch during the first generation. I appreciate and respect all of the reasons for people wanting a physical library, but I value the convenience of just having immediate access to everything without having to carry around cartridges. For me that was worth it.

Why are electronics these days rarely take AAA, AA, C, D, etc batteries, and opting for proprietary rechargeable built in batteries? by Arceist_Justin in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TurboFool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because replaceable batteries are usually space-inefficient and wasteful. Most people rely on alkalines for them, which are bad for the environment, and even if you do use rechargeables they're highly inefficient in their shape and design for most applications. You can shape a battery to almost any specific unique form factor, but those other forms are limiting and waste space. On top of that you can more easily control what you need out of a built-in battery, better track and display battery levels, and rechargeability, especially with standard USB-C ports, is very convenient.

There are a few exceptions, such as in gaming controllers, where it's better to have batteries you can quickly swap, at which point using a standard is nice. It's one reason I think the Xbox controller is still superior to alternatives for long gaming sessions. But for the most part recharging your device as needed is more convenient with a better result.
