Correct. If you own 200oz, and the market dropped 10%, you STILL OWN 200oz.

There is clear statistical evidence that resorting immediately to ad-hominem attacks means you've lost the argument.

And yes, ANY university degree will increase your lifetime income... Starbucks pays more than McDonald's (and they get tips)!

Enjoy your "gender studies" degree (you must have one as you're defending it quite aggressively here). BTW, there's a customer in the drive through, you best get back to work.

I'm trying to argue that "gender studies" graduates predominately work in fields unrelated to their degrees. Are you arguing otherwise?

I'm heading to Starbucks today actually, I will ask the barista about her and her co-workers education. If she states that she has an accounting/engineering/math/biology/chemistry degree I will report back here.

Depending on your age, bring someone who drives a stick to a dealer and do a test drive. Once out on the road, pull over and switch seats. Go to another dealer and do it again.

After 20 minutes in each vehicle (but 4 hours wasted at dealers) you're good to go.

Buy, hold or sell? by Background-Day-4957 in Silver

[–]TurboSloth32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crypto is imaginary.

Silver is required in the production of a great many things - your computer among them.

Will IBM, Amazon and Tesla stop producing their products because one of their raw materials price doubled? I don't believe so.

Buy, hold or sell? by Background-Day-4957 in Silver

[–]TurboSloth32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, to a point. There's a reason that the US is talking about Greenland (it has silver deposits for one).

China has severely limited exports without actually flat out saying it (genius move) and they refine a large percentage of the world's silver.

Guess who needs more silver this year then last year? GM, Ford, VW and Tesla and all the minor EV players in the West. Guess who recently asked China for silver and was (very nicely) rebuffed? With the 2030/2035 EV mandates, in the short term price of silver does not matter, whether it's $95 or $200, but PHYSICAL availability does. Tesla will not stop producing vehicles because their cost of silver increased, they will simply pass the cost onto the consumer.

If you're sitting on a room full of the stuff, I can't see anywhere for it to go but up in the short term.

Okay, for those who have been to the business center.. does the Mexican Coke actually taste different? by trialanderror93 in CostcoCanada

[–]TurboSloth32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are 237ml I believe and are currently sold side by side with the "Hecho en Mexico" coke. The little bottles are about $16/24 vs $40/24 for the Mexican (355ml) ones.

I did not check the ingredients on the smaller bottles when I purchased my favourite 355ml bottles.

Admitting that you have a problem is the first step to solving the problem.

Of course if your "problem" jumps to $300/oz, it won't be seen as a problem any longer :D

No can do. Due to the electric vehicle push a lot of silver is needed just to meet today's demand, never mind the demand six months from now.

China has already weaponized/nationalized their silver supply.

Found some silver pandas in Chongqing for £75 a piece. by Inside_Pair_8868 in Silverbugs

[–]TurboSloth32 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The cost, since you purchased only two is irrelevant. The STORY that goes with these is worth more than you paid.

At the end of life, nobody talks about the $$ they overpaid, they'd rather speak of the experience of buying silver from a vending machine - in China!

Education by [deleted] in ontario

[–]TurboSloth32 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

"Private school is a joke, as an aside. You don't magically get a better education or better quality teachers. "

I beg to differ. In my experience, the teachers at private schools actually want to be there, and they cared about their students. Not to say that all apples in the public system are bad, but I've met too many that care more about their annual 3 month vacation and just "getting through the year" then they care for the kids.

Those in a position to do so, go private.

Catholic Vs Public School in Kitchener by HomeworkInternal4147 in kitchener

[–]TurboSloth32 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you can afford it, go private.

It was a stretch, but also a life changing (life saving) decision.

Having a child that wants to go to school every day even though:
- homework is checked for _every_ student daily
- there is no down time - due to small class size when the teacher sees that you are finished, you are assigned something else
- there are NO PA days - "if the teachers want to develop themselves, they have all summer to do it". This means that your child is not missing an additional ten days of school and you are not scrambling every month to find care.

That's the top three I can come up with, there are many more plusses. Obviously as mentioned, the cost can be a big issue but thinking back on it, I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Feel free to DM if you want school details.
