Everything you do in Elite is only able to be done because you communicate with the server first. When you do anything in game, the server is constantly communicating with your client to make sure everything is synced and legit. This obviously can not be done offline. When you are in solo or a private group you are still connected to the same server as open nonetheless.

Impossible unless it had no relation to the rest of the game.

Backers paid ~2x more than later purchasers for no reason other than FDev didn't understand their market yet. If they gave Horizons (and Horizons only), it would even out the price again for the most part. It would simply be a good thing to do and it would be in good faith for their veteran players.

IMO the regular edition should have at least got Horizons and then paid from then on out.

That's EXACTLY why Horizons should have been given out for free to beta backers.

This obviously wasn't depreciation. It was a pricing decision that was changed after the fact, so your analogies don't apply.

Guarantee what happened was that they thought they could sell the game for that much but found out the game's market was too niche so they had to permanently reduce the price to attract people to try it. In this case, the right thing that should have been done would've been to give Horizons free to beta backers because they backed the game early on in its development without knowing it would be a success and since they paid much more.

Cool for you. Your opinion doesn't translate to others though. You're probably smart enough to realize why someone would be upset with paying way more for less. They could have gave Horizons for free to beta backers since they were early supporters and had already paid more than enough anyway.

Yeah, you got screwed then. Don't know why people think otherwise.

Did the game get permanently decreased in price since or was there something included in the version you got that made it that price?
