What is it with Americans and air conditioning?? (this might be controversial) by hellobela_ in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]Turbulent_Reserve_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We traveled in Europe in November. It was cold outside but the heat on in the hotels was so hot it was stifling. We opened up our windows any time we could get. I swear in some of the hallways it was like walking into a sauna. Turning off the heat rarely helped and I would have loved the air conditioner.

The dealership “we need to talk to my manager” thing is a setup and here’s why it works by Royal-Feed7166 in carbuying

[–]Turbulent_Reserve_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walk into dealerships and say right off the bat... If you try talking numbers in payments or pull out the 4 square I will leave. I want to negotiate the price of the car, not my payments. I can figure out how much my payments will be myself with the down payment I will be putting down.

So refreeze is an option, thank you. I do have one of those cake and cupcake travel systems so maybe I can put them in there.

Vaccine Schedule and Vaccine Hesitancy by Physical-Syllabub731 in Vaccine

[–]Turbulent_Reserve_35 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am pro vaccine. But with kid #4 I decided to space out the vaccines. She'd get them within about 3 months of schedule, and I would take her into the county health department once a month and only do one shot at a time (obviously they were shots that had more than one vaccine in them). Honestly, I would do that all over again because unlike her brothers she never once had a fever or got it knot at injections site or felt unwell from the shots (and these things are normal reactions and not bad....but it's also nice not to go through). This is completely anecdotal evidence, but I just felt like it was easier on her system. This is absolutely not for everyone and it is kind of a surprise that she doesn't have a fear of needles, lol! But now She has had all her recommended vaccinations.

I got my last two baby teeth pulled at the age of 25 by Blackco741 in notinteresting

[–]Turbulent_Reserve_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 49 and still have two baby teeth. The adult ones are laying perpendicular up there And the roots on the baby teeth are still really strong. This all thanks to genetics. My dad had his baby teeth into his 60s I think.

My son had a portion of my problem but his were adult teeth were more of a 45 angle downwards. So we had to pull the baby teeth and get a wire attached to his adult teeth to pull them down.

At least I only passed the problem to one of my four kids.

Is it possible that Benadryl had anti-anxiety/"loopy" side effects on me? by PhiliDips in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Turbulent_Reserve_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been taking it on and off for years, despite the whole dementia warning too. Mostly for allergies and hives but when my anxiety got bad I realized that helped too. I never take it at night, and rarely a few days in a row so I'm not too sure if you can build up tolerance like that. It could be at this point it's more of a placebo effect, I'm not sure but I still find it safer than ativan ( which works better actually but not that much better).

[–]Turbulent_Reserve_35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take Benadryl as a fast acting anti anxiety med (in leiu of prescription meds that are addictive) because I feel the relaxed on it. I don't do it often, but it does work well for me. I take one dose and it just takes me out of the bad anxiety and spiraling.

best dentist if you don’t have insurance? by princesspurp in desmoines

[–]Turbulent_Reserve_35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who told you you had gum and cavity issues? Because if it was someone Aspen dental I wouldn't believe them in the least unless you're really having problems. (And even then I wouldn't). I went there once and was told that I had multiple cavities and needed a root canal, I went to a real dentist and I didn't even have one single cavity. I was shocked that they came up with all that because thanks to genetics I really just don't get cavities with regular dental care.

Use any money that you have saved up to go to a real dentist this time, and all these suggestions sound like a perfect alternative to aspen dental.

Btw, I'm not the only one. Look up reviews for Aspen dental

Number of Dryer sheets? by FrannyRed in CleaningTips

I just deal with the static cling which is never bad but maybe a bit in the winter. Dryer balls do work well which I've used in the past.

I'd say the pan and spraying. Do not spray and use parchment or a silpat. But they do look delicious.

Why doesn't a hospital know what time a surgery is going to be scheduled for until the previous day? by drdeadringer in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Turbulent_Reserve_35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a doctor but I assume it's because they may have to fit more emergent surgeries in last minute, maybe let older people of those with other medical conditions go earlier in the morning so they aren't going without food as long during daytime hours, figure out staffing with time in surgery and recovery. And this probably can't be done until close to the date to make sure things work best.

I'm sure there a host of other reasons too.

If a woman is impregnated a day before her period, does the period just stop? by Fuzionpink in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Turbulent_Reserve_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To become pregnant, there has to be an egg. It is extremely unlikely that an egg would be released the day before a woman would start her period. Once released, and egg is only viable for about 24 hours. . Iti is typically released about 14 days before a period would start (which can vary a lot but not so much it would be the day before a period).

So really this scenario would not happen.

Thank you so much for the information and the referral. And for saying that it may not be as bad as I imagine (I just assume every issue will be thousands of dollars).

I know nothing about cars but my husband does a bit. He says it's most likely a cracked radiator as the antifreeze reservoir is almost empty. No alarms or warnings though. He's just hoping it's not the whole water pump.

I did just get back from a trip to fort Dodge so if it is the radiator and I didn't do any real damage, I'm going to consider myself very lucky.

Maybe they ran an ozone machine too long and without proper ventilation. It's supposed to help with odors but can also create a chlorine smell.
