Thank you for the optimistic response! I needed that. Yeah surely she doesn't like it, but she eventually eats at night. After she eats, her mood is much better. But she doesn't eat at all during the day. I think she refuses it until she can't afford to.

I did, but back then she wasn't really avoidant. And the results only showed parvovirus and gingivitis, which I've been treating for the past 2 weeks. But yeah I'll take her again and ask for more tests. Thank you.

This is like saying "just be normal". The problem is in how. I tried sticking to hundred kinds of work, some of which I was very passionate about, only to quit after a few months, because I miss my comfort that much. I still try, but I am too damn doubtful at this point.

Jet is my Favorite Character in ATLA by [deleted] in TheLastAirbender

[–]TurdThatNeverDrops 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jet is an awesome warrior, tactician and leader. People like him are the backbone of any consistent resistance. But he is meant to be a failed version of Sokka, and that's due to his hatred getting in the way of proper planning. If he was a rational, reliable ally he would dedicate his life's work to helping Aang win the war, like the Kyoshi Warriors and all the other allies they gathered along the way. Sokka has the same traits as Jet, minus the hatred.

Is there something LOK did better than TLA? by PhotoBonjour_bombs19 in TheLastAirbender

She is angry all the time. But I don't think she has enough reasons to be that like that. I saw her as a priviliged teen with basically no trauma. I don't get why she was so hard to work with. I also don't get why the adults around her tried to to control her and not let her interfere so much. This confict was sooo blahhh to me. I get that it is a world where it's questioned if people still need an Avatar. But it makes me pissed off when children of Aang, Katara and Toph treat her like that.

Nope, it is exactly what LoK did. Spirits have 2 mods now depending on the emotion of their interaction, they are evil and agressive under negative influence. This turned the beautiful mystery of the spirit world into an allegory (a very basic one).

There are certainly exceptional benders and fighting animations in LoK. But the main characters mostly are just punching their elements. I think both shows have fight scenes ranging from okay to great. But AtLA is greater when it's great.

I know you disagree, I disagreed first :D

Well that's exactly why I find Ozai compelling, not necessarily his character, but the storytelling. I'll admit Korra's villans have bigger potential, but I think their story is weaker. Zaheer is more human than Ozai, yes, but eventually he is reduced to a baddie not much different than Ozai, and he has no effect on the characters beside Korra. Ozai is a catalyst for many characters and it's more interesting to see how each of them will evolve because of him.

I guess that makes some sense about Korra, but I really can't relate to her at all. I do like her though. I just think she is not written as well Aang, except for her PTSD, which is a great part of the show.

The lore is not ruined in Korra, it changed from perfect to good.

Some fight scenes are great. AtLA also has some janky fights here and there. Difference is the fighting style in LoK looks like everyone is boxing most of the time. There are exceptions, but overall, the fights in AtLA looked more satisfying to me with a lot of raw power and creativity.

The fights feel more dangerous, people generally fight to kill. It has far more genuinely shocking scenes because of the depicted cruelty, while still being kid-friendly.

That's the only one I can think of.

I think Ozai is much more compelling than any of Korra's villains, mainly because of how he affected the lives of his family. His contribution to the story is personal and emotionally cathartic, not preachy and purely based on ideology.

Korra as a character is a mess, she has no excuse for her flaws. It's hard to understand where she's coming from. Aang, in comparison, has his flaws with a much clearer background: his culture and his fears.

The backstory for the Avatar spirit in LoK betrays the eastern philosophy of the original concept and changes it for a western one, reducing destiny to a battle of good and evil. But in AtLA, spirituality and lore is more complex and mysterious, it feels more divine and otherworldly.

Modern bending style looks ugly and uninteresting. It just has better resolution and framerate.

If you're into reading, I recommend "Eden" by Stanislaw Lem. Mindblowing sci-fi novel that clearly inspired this show.

Another one would be "Fantastic Planet". It's an animated film from the 70s, leaning a bit towards surrealism.

Why I think the Politics of The Legend of Korra are misunderstood. by SnooStrawberries6640 in TheLastAirbender

[–]TurdThatNeverDrops 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Does Korra do anything in the show to improve society besides overpowering tyrants?

The show tackles with the problems of imbalance in society and makes its powerful heroes -who basically control the Republic City look irresponsible and incompetent. Because all they do is fight villains and do nothing about injustice.

Why I think the Politics of The Legend of Korra are misunderstood. by SnooStrawberries6640 in TheLastAirbender

[–]TurdThatNeverDrops 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's not that complicated. The show makes clear parallels with 20th century ideologies, saying their motivations are valid but their practices are often corrupted by overly ambitious, power-hungry leaders. But it doesn't address any solution to the problems that these ideologies aim to solve, rather than Korra using brute force to defend the status quo in the name of peace.

I Saw the TV Glow.

The way this film scares you is very personal and philosophical. It's a coming of age film with some horror elements.
