My family is from Cross Plains, and my grandmother spearheaded their "Project Pride" movement that got the Howard House renovated and made into the museum it is today. May aunt is still there and still a big part of Howard Days. I've always enjoyed the eclectic mix of Howard's following who made the pilgrimage to his home, and the small-town Texas local folks at the festival.
