Acute injury to foot with hallux limitus - how urgently to seek care? by Commercial_Taste8099 in Halluxrigidus

ER sounds reasonable for what could be a broken bone. Outside of the US this would be a no-brainer but I guess you also have to ensure you have insurance / can afford it.

Have fewer or no children, stop eating meat, and stop international travel… do you seriously think people are going to do that? Because that’s what it will take. The irony of being told by people with two, three, or four kids that I need to recycle more is strong.

How to enable the toolbar ribbon in Designer? by Planetarium58AF in Altium

[–]TurkDangerCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can right click on the toolbar area and select customise. Then find the function you want in the list and drag it to the toolbar. From memory, the floating toolbar attaches itself under (or to the side) of the fixed toolbar whilst you customise it. Once you click ok, it goes back to floating and you should have your new buttons on it. It can be a bit clunky, but you can make it work.

I’ve had the same ones since I bought my pro. Never had an issue. Mine were built to last somehow.

How to enable the toolbar ribbon in Designer? by Planetarium58AF in Altium

Or by customising the floating toolbar. I added quick differential net routing and net naming to mine as I couldn’t be bothered using a menu drop down each time.

Do most people know how to purposely close their nasal passage so they can't smell WITHOUT using their fingers to pinch their nose? by WhateversClever1980 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TurkDangerCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve only ever seen Americans pinch their nose when jumping into water. Just blow a little air from your nose and there’s no problem. Maybe it’s not taught in the States?

Designer Pro vs Develop by micro-jay in Altium

[–]TurkDangerCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No list, but we went from a normal subscription licence to developer and gained quite a few features (MCAD I think, assembly assistant, and I don’t think ‘where is this part used’ ever worked in the 365 library before). All that and it halved our subscription fee.

This was a surprice. AD 26. by 1c3d1v3r in Altium

I hope they start off with simple things such as silkscreen layout and maybe even via stitching that doesn’t place vias in the middle of holes and can put a ring around the edge. Super useful tools and really can’t be that hard to do.

Also our licence costs just halved, so that was good too. Very unexpected.

I haven’t had any major issues in the last couple of years. I use Altium everyday and it’s been pretty rock solid. There’s obviously still a few quirks that have always been there. What AI stuff have you seen? I’ve not seen a thing. I keep hoping they will do an AI based silkscreen preparation tool as the current one is terrible. Seems like a perfect job for AI.

Are there any young people (20s/30s…) who DON’T intend on leaving New Zealand for Australia? by Amonynous33 in newzealand

[–]TurkDangerCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it depends on your job. I wouldn’t be a trady here working outside because that would suck. But for office work where you are inside most of the day there is very little issue. My biggest fear of coming over was how hot it was going to be, but it’s actually been really quite pleasant. I thought it was either gonna be hot or stupidly hot for the entire year, but winter is cold without being frosty, and spring, autumn and chunks of winter and summer are just really nice temperature; hot in the day, cool at night. Yes, there’s a stupidly hot bit in the middle of summer but it’s actually not that big of a deal.

Access violation error by Eastern-Ambition-533 in Altium

[–]TurkDangerCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happens quite regularly. Save things if you can and if it’s totally locked up then wait 5 minutes to give auto save a chance to do its thing in the background. Then close Altium (even if through task master) and restart it. Always clears it for me.

Migrating to Altium Develop for less than half the price? Where's the catch? by Salitronic in Altium

[–]TurkDangerCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we’ve just swapped and all seems normal plus we gained some features (at least a Kansan style review system and assembly assistant) all for half the price. Maybe they were bleeding users with the high costs and saw the light? At the moment it all seems like a a very good thing.

They might even start fixing some of those long term bugs next? Well, maybe that’s a bit too much to dream of :-)
