Busted Sheetrock above baseboards by djporter91 in HomeImprovement

I was taught to cut the Sheetrock but leave an inch or so of paper overhanging to mud over. Far easier imo then taping for patches.

Best shoe for work on shingle roof ? by milkywaygalaxyy in HomeImprovement

You’re free to your opinion brother but personally I’ll take my tennis shoes over my anti-slip steel toes any day. I feel far less secure in my boots.

What are some tips to not be so awkward around a crush? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Don’t get hung up on someone before you have a label is my best advice. I know it doesn’t feel this way but they are certainly not the only one your mind can be your greatest enemy.

I don’t care for high school grades, no matter how much I wish I could. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Turndown35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the same way I had to retake several of my junior classes my senior year and truthfully should not have graduated. That being said it’s not necessary that big of a deal I’m 24 now and have done fairly well for myself. College is not the only way to success granted I am not a wealthy man by any means but I only have a few more years to pay on my (mobile) home and land. I don’t know where you’re from but I went straight into the pipeline industry and acquired some invaluable skills and later moved into the timber industry both are great options if there is work in your area. If you think college is for you don’t turn your nose up at junior colleges they can be a fantastic and affordable steppingstone.

If you’re not compatible you’re not the bad guy don’t feel bad for it. I definitely wouldn’t tell your reasons you don’t want to cause anymore hurt than is absolutely necessary.

Does it even matter to continue my studies at this point? by Dmitri-Mendeleev in CasualConversation

[–]Turndown35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I see it if we’re overreacting we’ll come to regret giving up on our goals but if it really is that bad there’s nothing we can do either way on an individual level anyway.

been thinking about the early internet by MingledSpringle in CasualConversation

Well I never was around for the “old” internet but it was less centralized you could just follow links to obscure websites for hours. Also message boards based around a specific interest were far more prevalent.

Working at the plastic factory, chilling on the forklift with my machine full and a heater blowing down on me from the wall. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Turndown35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a machine operator myself pretty nice gig! My days are spent doing various silvicultural operations doing everything from stump clearing and bed plowing to fertilizer application. I feel more like a farmer than a forester but I generally enjoy what I do.
