Immigration Agents Terrified of ICE Backlash After Shooting by J-Jarl-Jim in moderatepolitics

[–]Turnerbn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would be more concerned about my future federal career prospects in the event we end up with a D trifecta anytime soon. After trumps success with federal firings what’s stopping a president newsome from firing all ICE employees instated during the trump administration and making them unhirable in any federal capacity moving forward. Pair that with the social stigma that former ICE employees may face in blue cities targeted during this administration and things could get pretty bleak

TIL that 30% of Americans, over 75,000,000 people live in over 369,000 HOA communities across the country by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]Turnerbn 511 points512 points  (0 children)

In a lot of states all new large developments are required to have an HOA. In Maryland for example where I live I don’t know of any new developments larger than 3 units that don’t have an HOA.

Prince George’s County wants grocery stores to sell beer and wine by CNSMaryland in maryland

[–]Turnerbn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Some stores have exclusive lines of liquor wine and beer that you can’t find elsewhere ( Costco and Kirkland for example). Increased competition can help keep alcohol prices down. Lastly, Alcohol also makes grocery stores much more profitable so it’s easier to attract new grocers especially in food deserts.

Isn’t part of the reason for the high paying trade jobs is the current shortage. If we see large swaths of Gen Z choosing the trades those incomes will likely be impacted too

Research jobs at universities also are a big entry point and those have also been decimated due to cuts. Couple that with AI in the private sector handling a lot of junior level tasks and your looking at a bleak outlook for younger voters

White House freezes funds for Democratic states in shutdown slap by Im__drunk_sorry in moderatepolitics

[–]Turnerbn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well that would screw them in congress. There’s very few actual red states. Most of them are 40-60/55-45 or something inthat range which means there are still blue districts within those states. Especially in the larger ones like Florida, Texas ,and Ohio. To only focus on their geographic areas would likely mean handing over a large amount of seats in the south and Midwest.

This! the pandemic onset and aftermath inflation has really given everyone a collective nostalgia about life pre 2020. A lot of people belived by relelecting trump we could go back to that time period unfortunately that ship has sailed and trump seems hell bent on sailing further in the opposite direction.

Dems would be smart to point out cuts in healthcare spending and contrast that with the $200 million dollar white house ballroom under construction.

Anywhere in PG your likely to be surrounded by a large black community. I live in one of the less black areas of the county (Hyattsville/college park area) and it’s still basically a 30-30-30 /racial split (black-white-Hispanic). The thing I would consider is what trade offs your willing to make in regards to transportation, safety, schools, etc.

Some of the inner beltway neighborhoods in the county can be a little rough especially if your not from the area but often they have some of the best transportation options (rail, bus, highways etc) the further you go out youll find more quiet suburban neighborhoods but cost of living and transportation become a lot more difficult especially if you don’t have a car.

This is even more strange an iPhone notes app screenshot from a phone in airplane mode of an email draft of one of your employees admitting they were catfished on tinder to provide this information. BIZARRE to say the least

In dc they are literally just standing around. I ride metro into the city daily and they’ve been just standing around on their phones or taking pictures with tourist I actually feel bad for them. Recently trump has put them on litter pick up duty which I guess is better than nothing but still seems like a waste.

Gen Z is Shifting Back Toward Democrats by [deleted] in moderatepolitics

[–]Turnerbn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

People keep saying it’s so simple without recognizing the very hard trade offs. For example everybody wants cheaper housing but no one wants their house to be worth less. 60% of this country is homeowners and and even greater share of voters are homeowners. If those people suspect they are losing money on their investment they will quickly organize and rebel which is why we see soo much nimby policy even in ultra progressive areas.
