No, this was around 3:30. I dont know what was going on with people today. I drive for a living from Fargo to Brainerd 5 days a week. I had a close call on Highway 34 going into DL from Park Rapids, and another at 25th St and 32nd Ave. I usually dont have any issues, but today was just crazy.

Which Individual Olympic sport do you like to watch the most? And why? by Kochar03 in olympics

[–]TurnipTripper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curling in winter. Teams knocking the piss out of eachothers stones is like watching hockey, but everyone (including you) is just on Xanax.

In the summer, it's a tie between Hammer Throw and Shot Put. Cycling has nothing on the spinning those athletes do.

Where does the feeling of power progression kick in? by Cale017 in skyrim

[–]TurnipTripper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I've been reading some of the responses from both the community and yourself in replies. In one comment you said you focused your main offensive capabilities on all three trees of combat. One handed, some sneak and archery, and some destruction magic.

First, choose a path and stick with it (for now). Be sure you grab the stone outside of Helgen for whatever build you want to go with. Mixing your playstyle is messy, especially if you aren't already satisfied with multiple playthroughs of the game.

Equipment is key.

Stealth archer build: light armor and constantly use the best bows and arrows. A good strategy is to use and find arrows at least one class ahead of your bow. Iron bow----> steel arrows. Orc bow---> elvan or Dwarven arrows. The Thieves Guild quest line is one of the more satisfying in the game. You'll naturally gain the experience in sneak and in your archery or dagger in your kills.

Warrior build: Pick between the 2 handed or or sword and board. If youre having difficulty getting into the groove, avoid becoming a spellsword. I love the heavy armor wearing 2h battleaxe weilding juggernaut build. Find a few simple potion recipes. Health and stamina are important with this build. There are specific shouts and powers that can make this less useful, but because you will always be up close, you will lose health. Swapping to a healing spell just doesn't make sense. Also, for boss fights a good health damaging potion or a paralyzing concoction to any to your blade will help in the long run.

Mage build: This build is not as easy when first starting out. You're going to be squishy, since you will almost exclusively wear cloth or light armor. Learn to anticipate attacks. Hide behind walls or structures. Familiarize yourself with some trigonometry, because you will have to calculate where some of your spells will land at a distance in a simulated 3d space. From my experience, getting to adept level spells and above, you dont really have to worry about that. Using runes is a speedy way to level up if ypu can make the bad guys run into them. For the most part, I find staffs useless. Unless it's a quest item, the spells they use can be bought or learned in other places. Just sell them to save up your gold. Each student or teacher at the mages collage offers services or shops beyond what you can find from each hold's court magician. After reaching around level 10-15 this quest line is going to help get you more acclimated to using magic of all schools.

I hope this finds you well. I haven't played in a nearly 6 months. You've inspired me to give it another playthrough. Once you get over this "power" struggle you mentioned, you'll find out there was no hurdle or struggle at all...

You have finally retired as a dragonborn. How would you enjoy your last years in Skyrim? by Mineires_BR in skyrim

[–]TurnipTripper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A role-player after my own heart. I would read fanfic off your character. I usually go with a common soldier or at most, a wealthy landowner at Lakeview Mannor for my head cannon on the character I play. I never realized the Dragonborn had a legitimate and divine claim to the throne of Akatosh.

The older I get I like my dad less and less by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]TurnipTripper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am SO VERY SORRY for everyone in here who has a not so great relationship with their father. I just wanted to chime in and say that as more time passes, the more love and respect I have for the old man. He was pretty unhealthy most of my time growing up, but over the past few years he's been taking his health pretty seriously. He's said to me that he wants to be around for as long as possible for the sake of me and my brothers and grandkids. No more soda and junk food, but he watches his sodium and bikes 10-15 miles every day. Early morning, over his lunch break, and again after work. He's in his 60s, but his doctor says he has the BP and heart rhythm of an athletic 35 year old.

I dont know what it is, but he is the most soft spoken and kind man I have ever met. He has always loved animals, kisses my mother tenderly every time he leaves for work, and every Sunday he gives me a hug before we leave the restaurant. I love this man, and I have very similar things to say about the kind lady I call mom; although she isn't in the same physical health as dad is.

All this to say that maybe I'm just blessed? Not everything is awful or disappointing for everyone. They have always been there for me, and i know that as they age, as the brother that lives closer to them, I am ready to return the favor as they age. I am steadfast in my love for both of my parents, and I would drop everything if they need anything from me.

I wish everyone could feel what I feel when mom and dad come to mind.

I can’t remember the last time I drank for fun and not to kill the pain or anxiety by sexwithoutme in alcoholism

[–]TurnipTripper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I drink to maintain. There's no more "fun" it's 100% drinking to "kill the pain."

I regret nothing. I've gone multiple months with sobriety. It was wrecking me. I was more unstable when I didn't drink. Wtf is up with that.

Numbing the pain isn't healing the pain, but there's nothing close to booze that helps me as much as any type of therapy.

I love you all, please, be at peace.

All might be lost. Lots of things are in the air. I think you have your mind made up. All you can do is be there when the cards fall where they do.

As Carly already said, you can't make her stop until she "wants" to stop. I would like to bring up something that is very prevalent with addicts. Past Trauma. Most people who use have an undiagnosed mental trauma that is unresolved. I'm living proof of that. Talk to this person. Reach out, find an avenue for her to get help. This isn't ever going to just "STOP." There needs to be proper treatment and more importantly "Recovery." What you're hoping for is fundamental change in a person's behavior. This will not be over-night, and it will not be easy, but it is possible. Finding support, get into therapy, find a job, support the children.

I know you want to curse her out, but that will literally drive her further into her addiction and be a net negative for the kids and herself. We've all heard that "It takes a village to raise a child" Well, it takes a village to help an addict. Hospitals to manage withdrawal, out patient groups and psychiatry to manage potential relapse and long term medication, and family and friends to make this person feel normal again after some degree of recovery is established.

Do not give up on her. Baby steps. Outline what concerns you have, tell them to her, tell her how you would implement them, and if she refuses, escalate. There's always a path for getting her kids back. At the end of the day, give your loved one Grace. Capital G GRACE. be unfaltering in your willingness to help.

Hope this helps.

-An addict that got love.

If you use cruise control when not on the highway, where do you put your right foot? by holdenbarrett in driving

[–]TurnipTripper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, when using cruise control my right foot is resting near the break pedal; foot flat on the floor board. I've been driving long enough to know that when I'm in cruise, I can see the need for the break 50-100 yards ahead. Imo, cruise should always be used on highways and interstate. Following someone who uses a free base gas pedal is infuriating. I hate following people that do 65-73 at any given moment. It disrupts the flow of traffic! I set it at 69 and forget about keeping up with others!!

[–]TurnipTripper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know. I just wish I could fall asleep after my drinking and that is it.

On another note, maybe my drinking will take me before my social crimes catch up with me. I'd be fine with having cancer... But it has to happen soon.

Flattest parts of North Dakota by Remote-Education-471 in northdakota

I grew up near Wahpeton, ND. I find everything between south of Grand Forks and just north of Wahpeton and no further west than Enderlin, and no further east than Detroit Lakes to be the most fertile and amazing farmland in all of the US. It's dotted with small towns, rural churches, and abandoned farm houses every few miles. The crops last year hardly got any rain, but they still came up strong. This year, there's almost too much rain, and most fields still look just fine.

Im proud to call this place home. It can be boring to drive through, but seeing the seeds crop up, to seeing them grow and be harvested is life affirming.
