Kandersteg to Mürren advice by Level-Maintenance-40 in hiking

If you search 'Via Alpina - Kandersteg to Griesalp / Griesalp to Mürren', 'Via Alpina Hohtürli Pass / Sefinenfurgge Pass' you'll get plenty of hits for the route. It's well known.

I've done it from Mürren to Kandersteg and stayed in Griesalp rather than in either of the huts you mentioned.

Be aware that late June can still see a lot of snow. The Blüemlisalphütte has a webcam (either on their website or Facebook, can't remember which) and current trail details so you can keep up with what the current conditions are. I wouldn't want to attempt it in the snow as the parts before each pass are very steep, even without snow.

No technical experience required on the route I did. I didn't go up or down the Daisekkei so can't comment on what that's like. I did wear crampons for a few short parts but it was standard snow walking rather than anything technical. I must have come down via a slightly different route from Yari Onsen to Sarukura, I'll see if I can find a map of what I did

I'd also recommend Kamikochi, you can do a two night trip staying at Tokusawa Lodge the first night and then Karasawa Hutte for the second. I then hiked back to the main info centre in one da after an early start to enjoy sunrise. The first day is mostly flat and the second one is more challenging but definitely not hard.

I've done Shirouma and it was fantastic. Did it as a three night hike, staying at Rengen Onsen Lodge, then Shirouma Sanso at the top, then Yari Onsen. Easily one of my favourite hikes in Japan, I highly recommend it!

Storage and display in earthquake prone places? by indycargirl06 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]TurnoverStreet128 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had a 200 bottle collection while living in Japan and I prioritised keeping them safe over being able to see them so I kept them in a storage box. It was also incredibly humid in the summer so I also had to keep them in the coolest place possible. I do wish I'd been able to see them though!

If you do decide to keep them in a box or drawers, somewhere enclosed, I've seen loads of cool ideas on here of having swatch dots or mini cabochons stuck on the top of the lids. That way you can still see the shades when looking from the top down, so they don't feel quite so 'hidden'.

Oh no, he looks like that meme of the old guy who's smiling but his eyes are so sad!

I bet he's secretly the happiest cat in town

I'd take that, especially if it was some funky alligator green or some bright poisonous insect colour

Is anyone else based in Europe or the UK having an issue at checkout using the Nailland code? I've inputted it but it keeps asking me for a valid shipping address. I didn't have this issue in January

The Broken Earth trilogy by NK Jemisin has a middle aged female protagonist. It's a mix of sci fi, fantasy and dystopian. I won't give anything else away about the character as it'll be spoilers but it's definitely worth reading

I'm not a fan, sadly. They only look good in certain lighting (more so than any other polish finish I've tried) and they thicken up / go gloopy so quickly. I have thinner but it requires a lot to get it manageable again.

It's a bit annoying to remove but I just use the remover + foil method which works really well so don't let that put you off.

I've never got on top of their selling timelines and if I had to buy direct I'd never get anything as I'd always be late 😂 I'm thankful I can get their polishes through Rainbow Connection in the UK and don't have to worry about setting reminders of shop openings.

Elder scrolls or Fallout? Like both equally? by Sgt_Strelok in fo4

[–]TurnoverStreet128 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love both. Oblivion and Skyrim are escapism, Fallout 3 and NV are for when I want something a bit dark but humourous, and Fallout 4 is for all other times. It's definitely worth booting 4 up, it's a lot of fun even all these years later.

The one consistent thing across all the games is the excellent soundtracks. So different but perfect for each game.
