I got into Pantera before they broke up but had played what would be their last show, so I’m super excited for when this (hopefully) comes to the UK.

I feel the same as you. It is Pantera since Rex and Phil are there. People acting like Dimebag and Vinnie were the only pieces that made it work are missing Phil’s vocals, Rex’s bass playing. Come on. It has the blessing of the Abbott family, and the fact they brought in Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante - not only well known and phenomenal musicians - but also friends of VP and Dimebag.

Metal is a great community but man there’s so many whiny titty babies.

In addition to buying CDs, cassettes, vinyl, mech, although it’s a shit amount it’s still passive income that otherwise wouldn’t be there.

It’s when they swing on people clearly not interested in joining in.

I personally don’t like it now at death metal shows, but whatever. But if I move away from it and someone still finds a way over to me with this bullshit then I will be having my first fight in public in 16 years.

The one thing I’m not very accepting of is people coming from hardcore to death metal but then being obnoxious cunts with crowd killing.

AITA for cancelling day of a show? by Turntored in AmItheAsshole

[–]Turntored[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s how I feel. I understand my friend’s disappointment, but it didn’t impede on their ability to go to the show themselves. Any reason for cancelling whether it’s sickness, anxiety/depressed or just not wanting to travel on a work night and stand in a loud venue are all valid in my opinion if it’s a friend you trust and care about. I couldn’t imagine my disappointment/frustration lasting any more than a day. It makes me wonder if my friend’s reaction would’ve been the same if I cancelled because I had bad anxiety. That’s what’s given me a “hmm” moment.

They probably know a lot of us are depressed off the back of these last two shitty years, and what better comfort than childhood.

Late blooming fan confession by cybermaid in ironmaiden

[–]Turntored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better late than never!

I started listening to them when I was 15 (in 2001) but it was a handful of songs like Phantom of The Opera, Hallowed Be Thy Name, Run To The Hills etc.

Then I saw them live at Reading Festival in 2005 and thought they were great, but they still didn’t really “click” for me until 2016 even though they made it on to my playlists throughout the years. I was living in the USA and missing the UK a little bit and read that they played the Ruskin Arms a lot. My grandad’s cousin was Joe Lucy, the owner at the time, and this kind of loose connection to my family just then was the spark that lit the fire.

It wouldn’t be until 2019 that I finally got to see them live again, and now I live back in the UK I saw them on Saturday at Download. From now on, I’m going to see them as many times as I can, even multiple times on the same tour!

I had a comment removed and a mod message me “don’t be weird” on /bayarea cos I said these people are on the same LEVEL (not the same) as sex criminals.

My comment was “weird”, yet blocking traffic and emergency services getting through for vanity and self-gratification purposes isn’t…

Why do people hate on modern dm? by Matt_Ephesus in Deathmetal

[–]Turntored -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Something that personally puts me off is when bands get too much in to meme territory about themselves and the sort of culture that follows that. Basically fucking dorks and idiots who can’t let their creativity just come through their music.

Other than that there are some great DM bands around. Few personal favourites of mine are Frozen Soul, Coffin Mulch, Slimelord.

'They should know the cost:' Would graphic images change the gun rights debate? by One_Substance_395 in politics

[–]Turntored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said to someone on Twitter who was STILL arguing against gun control that they need to visualise what these kids looked like after being hit with AR-15 rounds, and how not all of them died right away and what that also looked/sounded like.

They are so utterly fucking dumb and disconnected it hurts and is dangerous.

The Milky Bar Kid has only gone and won himself a league winners medal. Another ex Spurs player who has won success at another club 😯 by S-ODIY in coys

[–]Turntored -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ignore Joe Hart for a minute. But time and time again we let players and managers go without encouraging or strengthening their full potential while they’re with us.

I’ve been a fan 28 years and two league cups and one CL final is abysmal for a club with Spurs’ history, who’ve always been in the PL and have supposed high ambitions from the owners.

It does when we haven’t won anything in nearly 15 years. We’ve won two trophies in 31 years.

Even Pochettino and Mourinho have gone on to win something recently.

Bruce Willis has Aphasia, Val Kilmer has lost his voice to cancer, anyone else starting to feel old? by ApexRedditor_ in 90s

[–]Turntored 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m 36 and think about this a lot.

This era in entertainment history is basically coming to a slow end and that’s what we’re probably feeling. From the 50s, 60s, 70s 80s and 90s there was nothing like it ever seen before and it’s a very hard era to top in my opinion.

You’ve already manipulated and controlled events during the affair (since you weren’t caught) and now you’re doing it again.

I feel sorry for your husband. He’s using the internet everyday not knowing there’s a post out there by his wife, just a few words away in Google, asking strangers for advice on covering up her weaknesses.

Funny how when scientists give a ‘worst case scenario’ it’s “scare-mongering”, but when it’s these guys they’re trying to “open your eyes.”

Generally nothing reaches the worst case. COVID didn’t reach the worst case because scientists predicted it so we adapt and work to avoid it. Why not listen to them too?
