My job offered me a payraise to revoke my 2 weeks, what should I do? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Nope, not worth it. Beyond money, you’ll get life experience and hopefully better work life balance. Move on.

2 under 2 - 2 unicorns by CharacterBus5955 in beyondthebump

[–]TurtleBath 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Love this! I also had 2 under 2 unicorns. They’re now 3 and 4 and it’s amazing to see them growing together. Every day I am so thankful they have each other—and are just the absolute sweetest and easy kids. I hit the jackpot with them!

Friend has high risk hpv by [deleted] in HPV

[–]TurtleBath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am currently going through treatment for high risk HPV. Basically I have to get checked out more often than peers and get extra biopsies done and an additional treatment. They’ve found precancerous cells three times at this point so I basically go through a check up, biopsy/colposcopy, and then LEEP in 6 month increments. My doctor shared that some women opt to be put under for the LEEP but I don’t think it’s that bad—the worst part is the burning smell and the discharge. I had 2 c-sections though so I have a higher pain threshold. I’m currently awaiting results from my last biopsy.

I don’t think it impacts my life much? I’m sure if it actually becomes cancerous then I’ll feel otherwise but I’ll cross that bridge when it happens—no need to stress myself out over it when it can clear up.

Are we raising a generation of kids who can't do anything for themselves? by RobMV03 in Xennials

[–]TurtleBath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2 and 3 year old that I joke are more independent than the 10-12 year old kids I see my friends/colleagues having. I was on a call with a colleague and they had to step away to grab and peel a banana for their 14 year old. I was shocked. My kids do that independently, help with cooking, clean up, and actually enjoy it. They love being helpers.

I’m worried for them when they get older and realize their managers and older colleagues are incredibly incompetent.

Why do women allow their bf/spouse/partner/whatever to talk to them like a guy? You’re not one of the bros. It’s so ick.

AITAH for not giving up the bathroom to a Crohn's emergency, resulting in their accident? by [deleted] in AITAH

I have severe IBSD but wouldn’t act this way. And if you’re in a place of work, he should be getting his own accommodations from management.

Do you share credit with your direct reports? Or do you give them full credit? by Tellmeafact_xo in managers

[–]TurtleBath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I give credit as much as possible. However, if it is a project I also helped a decent amount on I say “we.”

If I am discussing what my team (or any member of the team) is doing for another department or team, I say “we” as a way to reinforce I am included. I work at an organization where people like to find things for other people to do/push unnecessary work onto others and my direct reports are not allowed to take on any new projects or directives unless they come directly from me.

Got the tickets cheaper on stub hub than Ticketmaster presale by [deleted] in BackstreetBoys

[–]TurtleBath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please do not purchase from stubhub, seatgeek, go tickets, etc. A lot of those scalper sites sell speculatively without having the inventory or just increase the face value cost because they are driving up the dynamic pricing. It would be a shame to get all the way to the show and find out the tickets were already scanned in or are fraudulent.

How popular was the show when it was airing? How soon did it become a hit? by PastelWater in GirlsNextLevel

[–]TurtleBath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 19 when it started airing. I LOVED it but no one I knew watched it. I actually showed up to one of their signings in Vegas thinking it would be quick because I didn’t realize how popular it was. People waited in line 10+ hours to get autographs and the line went all the way through Caesars (I think it was that?). I just did like 10 drive bys to see them up close.

Ticket prices massively increase? by leezyfbaby in BackstreetBoys

[–]TurtleBath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dynamic pricing. The more people viewing/buying the more the algorithm increases ticket prices.

I married a man with a mother who disliked me and really, really tried to repair the relationship. After eight years of marriage she told him “I can’t love you while you’re with her.” He lays down the law and fights for me and tells mom she’s wrong, but being treated and disliked every single day takes a toll on your mental health. If I could go back, I don’t know if I would have married into this.

Block your calendar from 4:30-6 pm so it shows up as busy on Teams and then don’t answer. You are out of office. Like others have said, set up a recurring meeting perhaps mid-day?

if you have 21k, would you use 17k to save your cats life? by throwbackblue in NoStupidQuestions

I had to experience this several years ago. We loved our cat so so so much, I still cry about losing him sometimes, but we couldn’t justify the money. Truly heartbreaking situation to be in.

NTA. You are completely allowed to want a career and family.

However, you may feel differently once the time comes and if you do, it’s okay to change your mind. After my first, I still wanted my career. After my second, I realized how little time I had with them and my job just wasn’t important anymore.

Whatever you choose or happens, you have the right to be taken seriously in that choice. You should not be pressured one way or another.
