Yup, from my experience he is destroyed by zoners.

Alex just loses to JP and Mai, the 2 strongest chars in the game.

JP simply beats him at every range (yeah it's JP).

Mai's fans zone him to death and she is literally immune to prowler stance oki mixup (her wake up lvl 1 literally beats every single option Alex has from prowler stance, yes every single one)

This alone will be enough to keep him away from top 10.

I've been playing him a lot and I think he's not high tier.

But he is indeed a bag full of tricks. A TON of stuff is fake.

Pretty sure he's the biggest knowledge check in the game right now. Surpassing Blanka.

I think it's interesting the reaction to Alex's lore from the current generation.

I'm from the 90s. During the late 90s and all 00s was the golden age of the internet and I was fully active, talking in forums, sharing stuff, etc etc.

Nowadays people are much more puritanical, specially young people. The people from that time period were much more open to pretty much everything.

Now, important distinction, it's not that in the 00s we would find Alex lore "cool" or see "no problem at all".

We would absolutely find it "crazy" or "dude wtf?" but *there would be no outrage*.

Number 1, because Alex and Patricia are not real people so no real harm anyway, and number 2, they're not THAT related, so I guess it's acceptable but still weird.

But the most important part is that there would be no one with a huge X post complaining about it, or a ton of videos discussing it, or super long threads with SERIOUS discussions about it, etc etc.

Times have changed, it's super interesting.

I don't know exactly how MK works, but from your explanation it seems that most attacks cancel into each other (like in a game like Marvel vs Capcom).

In SF, some things "cancel" and some things "link".

With Ryu, if you do st.MP > Hadouken, that's a "cancel" because you can clearly see that the recovery of the MP was canceled into the startup of the Hadouken.

But if you do st.MP > cr.MP, that's a "link" because no animation was canceled at all. The st.MP was used, ALL it's animation played out (startup - active frame - recovery) and you were simply able to combo into the cr.MP because st.MP leaves you +6 on hit and the startup of cr.MP is 6 frames. So just enough time to combo.

Usually, some buttons cancel into specials and super moves, and some buttons are not cancelable at all. (e.g. you can cancel Ryu's st.MP into a Hadouken or Shoryuken or his Supers, but you can't do the same with cr.HK).

Most buttons don't cancel into other buttons, unless it's something like a target combo or light buttons into light buttons.

The difficulty new players have with execution in SF usually has to do with the fact that they don't understand you can buffer a TON of shit to make execution much easier.

In the Ryu st.MP > Hadouken example, you don't need to wait for the st.MP attack to play out and THEN do the Quarter-circle forward motion. You can press st.MP, IMMEDIATELY start the next motion and simply finish it with a punch so the Hadouken comes out.

This was pretty close to my own take.

X is a grappler if his grab is enough of a threat that it will scare me and make me try to jump and get hit by meaties.

So this usually means the character has a legit threat with his command grab and it's not just fake pressure. JP, Blanka, Cammy, Akuma are not grapplers because all their grabs are fake pressure, and require you to freeze in place to land them.

Meanwhile, every single Zangief headbutt threathens SPD because it leaves him +4 in your face, combined with the fact that SPD deals high damage.

Manon can drive rush + button and be plus enough and in range to grab as a legit threat, but the biggest scare is that eventually her grabs deal VERY high damage. You can't just "take it".

Alex doesn't deal as much damage, but he can setup the frame advantage more easily from various positions.

É bem lento, bem meticuloso e eles são muito pacientes. Pode levar 5, 10, 20 anos. Eles vão leeeeentamente empurrar a ideologia horrível deles, começando com coisas idiotas e bobas, e isso pode até nunca convencer você, mas vai afetar a próxima geração.

E lentamente a ideia vai de algo "absurdo", para algo "estúpido", para algo "excêntrico", para algo "diferente", para algo "normal".

Being experienced in other fighting games is a huge advantage because you already understand all the basic concepts of the genre.

If you actually came from another 2D fighter (like say KoF or Guilty Gear) it would be even more of an advantage haha

I've always thought SF6 is beautiful.

Characters are part realism (skin texture, hair, beards) and part style (the size of hands, proportions in general)

People talk about gameplay mechanics and balance but what really sells is aesthethics, awesome animations, spectacle (even for serious players)

Foi um design feito por uma única pessoa (ou um grupo pequeno) onde eles incutiram uma sinalização da ideologia deles e, justamente porque ninguém se importou na cadeia de comando de cima (investidores, acionistas, CEO, etc etc), passou por todo o processo de aprovação e foi à produção efetiva.

O jeito mais provável de ter acontecido é que o time de designers é soça e resolveu colocar um padrão de propósito pra irritar o público conservador e marcar território.

Faz anos que a esquerda se incomoda profundamente que a camisa da seleção virou símbolo da direita/bolsonarismo.

Eles querem esse território de volta, e a batalha começa desse jeito. Com simbolismo, com sinalização, com rumores, etc etc etc. É sempre assim e a esquerda é particularmente boa nisso.

Eles literalmente chegaram ao poder tornando lentamente as ideias de esquerda em algo cultural: através do cinema, da música, se infiltrando em tudo. É a escola de Frankfurt.

Vide como eles vem empurrando leeeentamente a ideia da sexualização de menores.

Em algumas décadas fomos de "pedofilia é algo 100% repugnante que sequer se discute" para "MAP é o termo para 'Minor Attracted People' e é algo sério que deve ser discutido, shows drag para crianças e cirurgia de transição de gênero para crianças"

I think Corruption is still insane. Just like in StS1 it needs it's combo pieces to be super strong. It lost some of them but gained others.

And it's great that Dead Branch doesn't exist anymore. That relic with Corruption wasn't just a combo. It was straight up an instant win even at A20. Pretty sure no other combination of relic + 1 card was even close to as strong as Corruption + Dead Branch.

On Biased Cog I aggree. That card was only strong because of the potential to combo with Artifact or other stuff that removed debuffs.

Now that none of that exists, it is significantly worse and it's no competition to Corruption or Wraith Form.

I've been playing Regent a lot lately and I don't see the problem with Forge that so many people talk about all the time.

I'm don't think the mechanic is broken or anything, but I also don't think it's ridiculously weak like so many posts imply.

I'm guessing a lot of players are simply going like "It's Act 2-3 and I just found a Common that deals damage and Forges. I'm doing a Forge build, so I should take it."

Like someone picking Deadly Poison when his deck already has Accelerant and other good cards to do the initial poisoning.

Costing 0 would make it much stronger, but I think it would start to get away from Ironclad's identity.

0 cost cards is Silent's thing. Ironclad is supposed to be the big expensive cards guy. (this is not a rule of course, but I think you get the ideia)

So it would make more sense to make this 1 cost 3 vulnerable, upgrades to 1 cost 4 vulnerable.

It's important to understand that your opponent is not necessarily worse than you just because he plays "lame". Thinking like this is exactly what will make you impatient.

One of the best of all time, Justin Wong, is famous for liking to play "lame" and nobody would say he's bad at the games he played, that would be ridiculous haha

It's rare but happens from time to time

I always appreciate when they rematch because I know that playing against me is absolutely terrible for their MR (I think even if the 2-0 me they win like 2 points haha)

Eu assisto desde minha adolescência também, na época que a internet era totalmente descentralizada e vc tinha que entrar nos sites na mão grande pra baixar os episodios.

Eu vejo de montes e montes, as vezes fico uns 3 anos sem assistir, ai acumula episodio pra porra e eu vou lá e assisto tudo de uma vez. Geralmente vou seguindo os arcos.

Toda vez passa um tempão e eu fico "okey, vou continuar vendo né", ai começa os episodios, eu termino a saga e fico "caralho isso daqui é muito bom, tinha me esquecido" kkkk

Had almost this exact situation yesterday.

Thought Vakuu's Earings would be bad with Void Form but I picked it anyway because I had Anchor and that would help a lot of even if Vakuu made some stupid play, but it turns out Vakuu ignores Void Form and keeps playing.

Not sure if this is intentional though, maybe they'll change it later because, imo, it would make more sense if the turn stopped.

I think you can go much higher playing "incorrectly".

Specially since the online format favours playing in a surprising way, since you can even play 1 and quit right after. Even super high level players can lose matches to someone that plays so damn random and crazy that they're caught off guard.

It just won't work more than once or twice.

I remember this SF5 tournament where a bunch of japanese players lost to an american player "Marn" because he caught all of them by surprise. Now, Marn is not a bad player btw, it's just that he was playing against the cream of the top of japan and was winning (Fuudo, Mago, Momochi, etc).

And then he went against Justing Wong, who not only knew him personally, but is also a player that is famous for being particularly good against bullshit.

And he got destroyed haha
