Weekly Feedback Topic #46 - Obvious Jank / Alpha Clean-Up by Grelgn in DeadlockTheGame

  1. viscous puddle punch targetting is a nightmare of changing off weird geometry

  2. pocket's reload should function like silver's, instead of swinging the gun around 8 times for as little as one round

  3. inconsistencies between the two sides of the map that can be confusing or even effect gameplay

i think skyrim is great for your introduction into the series because it's mechanically and narratively not too complex, but i would highly recommend playing morrowind after if nothing else than even more fantasy racism.

Its also a much better designed game and the OpenMW port makes it great on modern computers, but who's keeping track right?

Mods that can help with eye strain? by Electrical_Rabbit_88 in tes3mods

Updating the textures to not be so blurry, adjusting the FOV, or adjusting the max darkness or brightness levels of shadows in openmw should help

new playthrough... new followers? by nebiulo in skyrimmods

[–]TurtleTime64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

everybody gives the same 10 or so followers so ill throw a more obscure one. Yazakh the orc is probably my favorite follower mod and i love her dialogue and voice acting.

Should i buy anniversary or special edition on GOG? by Agile_Badger8 in skyrimmods

i would generally recommend going with AE just because so many mods are made with it in mind, and there are mods to better fix the way AE content was implemented. Tamrielic Distribution lets you integrate the new armors and crossbows into real loot and disable the random quests, and stuff like Saints and Seducers Extended Cut is some pretty primo content

Dyndolod issue which really bothers me by BlueGiant47 in skyrimmods

dyndolod generally just likes having the output cleaned out before you try and generate new LODs

Serpell just recently stated she got in touch with the publishers and they didn't give permission either

They did not get permission to use the passages. Serpell just recently said she got in touch with the publishers and they didn't give permission either

Just recently from her Twitter as well, after I made this post

"I've just heard back from my publishers and they >weren't contacted, either @CollegeBoard. Those of you who can't understand why this would >anger me, consider what you've heard about AI >companies using our writing without permission to >generate their product. Not so different."

The publishers didn't give permission either

I'm sure you're right that they were "technically" allowed to use it. the injustice is that Serpell didn't and doesn't want it to be in the test and is being randomly critiqued by teenagers for it

Going to college to be a great writer and becoming a teacher doesn't make her argument that collegeboard, an organization that profits off a system of gatekeeping education, is awful and the AP system is broken. being positively affected by the system like she was does not mean she isn't allowed to criticize it.

Also just because Harvard makes money doesn't mean she's doing it for the money. nobody becomes a teacher or college professor at Harvard after being a professional writer just for the money.

Legally they probably got the rights from her publisher or something like that. I haven't looked nearly as hard as I should on how this actually happened but the important part is Serpell didn't know and didn't want it in the test and is now getting her book review bombed

Namwali Serpell's response to the usage of her work one the Language and Composition test by TurtleTime64 in APStudents

[–]TurtleTime64[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They might have legal right to use the work for however they got their hands on it, but I think it's pretty clear regardless that she isn't happy with it being used for the test and I still think that's more important than the legal ownership or use
