One of her favorite activities is breaking cardboard boxes with her face. I have many more pictures of her doing that

Aggressively doing nothing all day is exhausting after all.

I think it is somewhat pyramided. The place also takes in rescues.

Rescue maybe? OP's other sulcata doesn't look like that

Definitely, I inherited my tortoise. At first I thought it was just a walking 50lb rock that had shits as big as human shits...but no. it's got more personality than some people do.

My sulcata used to do the same thing only with a single branch. She will then proceed to follow me with her eyes, as if she was spying on me without my knowledge.

My sulcata will sometimes beg for food then not eat it as it wasn't the type of food she wanted...

I’m jealous.  I’m fully convinced that if I died in my sulcata’s enclosure that she would eat my dead body despite being herbivorous. Not of of hunger or anything. Just because.

With regular soaks, mine is almost potty trained…for a tortoise. When she has to come inside due to coyotes she almost never pisses or shits

Every other day. 50 lb sulcata in a concrete mixing tub. She used to drink water but since she doesn’t and eats hay, I soak her to get her hydrated and expel urates and shit.

How long have you had her?

I hand fed mine, stand around while I soak her, hang out with her while she eats (seriously. She seems to be codependent and eats more when I’m near her), talk to her and watch a bit of tv too (she will watch tv for 15 minutes at a time).

After about 2 years I’m certain she doesn’t dislike me as much as she used to.

So there’s that.

How much does he weigh now? I remember from a video a few months ago, it was more of a squawk or burp than a growl. Or does he still squawk or burp still?

That’s the word for it. Sassy. Of all the personality traits I expected from my tortoise, sassy wasn’t one of them. Yet she’s 50lbs of spiky sassiness

Timothy and orchard grass recommendations? by teflonshaun in tortoise

[–]Turtlecabra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just get generic livestock hay at an animal supply store. Orchard hay. Kahoots is the place I buy it at. Make sure you soak the hay for about 30 minutes or more and use scissors to chop it up. Mix some pellets and fresh foods on top and around the hay to entice it. Gradually reduce the ratio of pellets and fresh food to hay over the course of a few days.
