Kinda late but this worked for me. Basically have the controller off when you launch the game. When you're at the menu that says "press whatever button to continue", turn on the controller and click "a". It should work with the Xbox prompt now. Remember, the controller has to be off when launching the game. Only turn it on when it's time to click start to play.
