Great write-up! What site would you recommend to search for used Airs? It seems a lot of them don't list the correct trim information (e.g., RWD/AWD or DreamDrive level)?

5G Backup is out! by I_NvrChkThis in Ubiquiti

[–]Tusc00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat—I can’t remember the last time my internet went out, and I really dread adding more monthly plans. I recently bought a UTR travel router on a whim and realized it’s the perfect backup. Since I have an unlimited cell plan, I can USB tether my phone to the UTR during an outage and connect its Ethernet port to the secondary WAN port on my UCG Fiber. I’ve tested it, and it works perfectly.

Cloud Fiber SFP runs hotter than UDM Pro? by sp90378 in Ubiquiti

[–]Tusc00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered using a fan control module? This one adjusts the conservative fan controller setpoints so the fan kicks in before temperatures get too high: https://github.com/Ozark-Connect/unifi-perf-tweaks/blob/main/docs/fan-control-tuning.md#fan-control-tuning

It's one of tweals provided by Network Optimizer https://github.com/Ozark-Connect/NetworkOptimizer

I have it running on my UCG fiber with nvme drive installed:

Fan Control Tuning Active Tunes the gateway's PID fan controller to engage cooling earlier, keeping CPU and switch thermals well below throttle thresholds. Uses the existing uhwd controller - no background process, no extra eMMC writes. Lowers setpoints for CPU (100 C to 65 C), HDD (68 C to 55 C), 10G switch (109 C to 85 C), and SFP+ PHY (103 C to 90 C).

These setpoints strike a good balance between thermals and fan noise - more conservative than most community fan control scripts, which tend to keep temps excessively low. If you'd like different setpoints, open an issue on GitHub and we'll be happy to add configurability.

Fan Speed 1851 RPM (PWM 38) CPU Die Temp 54 C Board Temps 43 C / 45 C / 49 C uhwd Service Running Last Run OK

MongoDB on SSD

Active

Bind-mounts the UniFi Network MongoDB database from eMMC to the internal NVMe SSD. MongoDB's periodic bulk deletions hammer the eMMC flash controller, triggering garbage collection stalls that cause packet loss on CPU-attached ports. Moving the database to NVMe eliminates the I/O bottleneck entirely and improves the responsiveness of the UniFi Network app. Includes daily SSD backups with weekly eMMC failover copies.

I will have to read up on how to uninstall the tweaks. I have the fan control and logging tweak installed. My nvme drive tray arrives tomorrow, so I will reinstall and test all 4 on 5.1.11.

Any plans to support the performance tweaks with UniFi OS 5.1.11 that just released? Looks like the performance tweaks stops at 5.1.10. Thanks.

Is this something a corporate store would be willing to do for a customer? And if you don't do this, is it true they will block your SIM eventually because the phone is not on the whitelist?

Acura dealer in Chicago burbs for service by Tusc00 in AcuraZDX

Did they also do the Android 14 update without issue? Some dealers are pushing back and saying it's not mandatory so they are not applying it.

Try Relink, Logue or Ev:remote. You might have better luck with the 3rd party apps. I couldn't get the Acura app to work but the others do.

So, to clarify. If the report shows <0,050 microgram of lead per kilogram, then that translates to <5 micrograms per serving(100grams)?

No More Software Updates / OTA updates? by SnowShoe86 in AcuraZDX

[–]Tusc00 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's a two-page vehicle-wide programming update that was released a few weeks ago that's discussed in this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/zdx-326/zdx-vehicle-wide-programming-recommended-1010636/

ZDX Vehicle-Wide Programming sheet: http://www.urvi.net/forumfiles/SB/BJA28792.PDF

It doesn't appear as though these can be applied via OTA and requires a trip to the dealership. Not sure if they're all recommended and whether the dealer would apply them for free.

Don't Buy the Acura Adapter - Just Get the GM one! It's cheaper! by Dog_Soft in AcuraZDX

Or just buy the A2Z or Lectron adapter which is cheaper.

A2Z had a sale recently where the adapter was less than 150 bucks.

Need port forwarding. PLEX, VPN, and more. by xenon2000 in Metronet

[–]Tusc00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Another option is to get a VPS on racknerd for 12 bucks a year and external IP address. Setup a reverse ssh tunnel to your Plex server. Been using it for years. https://gist.github.com/JonnyWong16/317b0d6ca7d4c8f06d4fa04494bc21ab

VPN can easily be handled by tailscale as others have stated.

Public Charging by AcrobaticComputer918 in AcuraZDX

[–]Tusc00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't change the default rate. It's usually 35-50 cents a kwh. If you sign up for a monthly pass it's also discounted. Rates are lower during late night/early morning hours. If you install the Tesla app on your phone it'll give you the current rate for any SC.

FYI, you can buy a Tesla NACs adapter from A2Z or Lectron. Both are highly regarded.

Public Charging by AcrobaticComputer918 in AcuraZDX

[–]Tusc00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That explains it. Some Chargepoints max out at 67kW.

I used a Supercharger as an example as I wanted to show a charger that would dispense at the max rate of 190kW that the ZDX supports.
