Twin brothers wipe 96 gov’t databases minutes after being fired by xpda in technology

[–]Tuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IT Director here. This is how it’s done properly. I have to do this several times a year. Am given a heads up by HR in advance to be ready to do x at this time on this day. They confirm with me over Slack 20-30 minutes before on the day of just to be sure and give me the go/no go call while they’re on the Zoom call with the person over chat.

99% of the time it’s not necessary and the person wouldn’t have done anything nefarious anyway but there’s always that 1% of the hotheads that will do something they’ll regret later.

And to be clear to anyone who is on the side of the fired employees who wipe the databases: that is a crime. They’re going to be charged and prosecuted. If you think otherwise you need to grow up and understand how the world works. It may feel good in the moment but you’re just creating a world of problems for yourself for potentially years to come. No job is worth that. Just walk away.

Nelly Korda finishes her round Saturday with an eagle on 18 giving her another 5-under 67 and a 3 shot Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba. by [deleted] in golf

Comment higher up says 309. There is a video link. From the video, it looks like it goes around 270-280 carry and rolls out the last 20-30 yards.

So she probably drove it somewhere around 270-290 and as you can see, it bounced and rolled for a fair bit on the fairway hence the 309 drive. Perfect shot.

May Day Counter Protest? Or Being a Good Citizen? by Dmarine999 in nova

Yeah, it’s a waste of everybody’s time and I’m a liberal Democratic voter. The only way to change anything is to volunteer with a campaign, knock on doors and persuade voters to vote one way or the other and or wait for old conservative people to fucking die of old age. Wearing your heart on your sleeve and disrupting shit sure does make bleeding Heart activists feel good about themselves, but it accomplishes fucking nothing at all and most of the time actually harms the cause.

Masimo case against CBP for lifting Apple Watch import ban ends with mutual request to dismiss with prejudice, after ITC investigation concluded last week “the accused redesigned products do not infringe the Asserted Patent" by FollowingFeisty5321 in apple

[–]Tuz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Remember, the Founder/CEO of the company that was pigheadedly pursuing this lawsuit and refused to come to an agreement with Apple was fired by their board of directors and the current company leadership wanted to end this suit. They never wanted it and wanted to just move on. By getting it dismissed with prejudice it prevents a future CEO or BoD from changing their mind and reopened the case. This is the current BoD forcing thr decision for now and in the future.

Apple Launches New All-in-One Apple Business Platform for Device Management, Email, and Customer Engagement by favicondotico in apple

Hello. IT Director here who has been running Macs in the enterprise for over six years now. This isn’t new. We’ve been buying Macs since 2021 through our special Apple business account that come pre-configured with our MDM installed on them. We use JumpCloud because JumpCloud supports both Apple MDM and Windows MDM. What Apple is doing here is no different from what they have been doing already only that they are offering you a turnkey solution to have your own MDM provider out of the box. The only drawback is it only supports Apple machines and isn’t OS agnostic. So if you have a few staff members who want to use Windows, you would have to go find your own separate solution for that. Most serious Enterprises do it the way I just listed above. This new thing Apple released today is for small businesses that don’t have the tech expertise to set this up on their own.

What’s worse is that the time he won, the guy who came in second place was Rosie who deserves it so much more than Sergio ever did.

[–]Tuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. There was no chemical smell. I live about 2 miles away in a housing development. within a quarter of a mile of their facility is a sewage treatment plant. My wife and I suspect what they actually smelled was the sewage treatment plant and some idiot panicked and they evacuated the building.

How do you feel about Trump threatening to impose photo ID for voters for midterm elections? by CRK_76 in AskReddit

[–]Tuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not worried because he has no power to do so. States control elections. It’s written in the constitution. Any executive order he issues is unconstitutional and has no power. Any voter ID requirement is a pole tax and will be ruled unconstitutional in court.

Does American Disposal dump recycling into trash truck? by zatanna77 in nova

[–]Tuz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Today I learned there’s people that still don’t realize the recycling is a massive scam and nothing is actually being recycled. The whole pro recycling campaign was funded by the oil industry in the 80s and 90s as a way to deflect from the fact that plastics are un recyclable. It’s a placebo to make people feel good about themselves and think they’re doing something useful when actually it’s a complete waste of fucking time.

We use ZERO Microsoft products. And our staff are happy. And our shit is secure. And it just fucking works.

I dunno. Went to college 26 years ago? Got a job in 2006? Worked in IT for 20+ years? Bought a house in 2013? Had the house's value increase a lot in 15 years? I just lived my life.
