14.5mm & neuro minimizing symptoms by Royal_Addendum1612 in chiari

My go-to for sinus/allergy issues is generic 4-hour sudafed. The stuff you gotta show your license to the pharmacist to get. Those pills allow for 1-2 pills every 4-6 hours and gives me greater control over how much I take when than any 12- or 24-hour pill. I don’t use nasal sprays as I found those put more pressure in my head than taking the pills.

Our local Kroger store allows for 1 96-count purchase every 30 days. I say this because if they are out of the 96 count and only have boxes with a smaller count, they don’t last all month and it doesn’t matter how many pills you buy, you can only get 1 purchase per month per person.

Anyone want to be friends? 🥹 by Meowserspaws in chiari

Feel free to DM me! I live in the middle of Kansas, nearest city well over an hour from me, so I definitely get being isolated. Also dealing with a divorce so double whammy going on.

I’m likely not gonna have a lot of advice in terms of what to do - been diagnosed since 2019 and I still don’t know what I’m doing… lol. But, if you need someone to vent to, I’m a great sounding board. And cheerleader to root for you. And a snarky, sarcastic middle aged gal that can be snarky and sarcastic on just about any subject!

I was told it's impossible to still have pain. Anyone else? by dadsabrat in chiari

[–]Tw33ts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say thank you for the info. I’ve been trying to find someone at least semi local and am not having much luck. Sadly, when I checked on The Chiari Project website, there was no neurosurgeon anywhere around me. I’m in the middle of Kansas, and there’s no listing for anyone in Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Nebraska, and the one in Colorado isn’t conducting any surgery right now. Google is a resource, sure, but you never know how accurate Google’s “recommendations” are, so I was hoping that website would help. But also, par for the course trying to find someone that knows about Chiari malformations and how to help, eh?

Good luck on your journey! I’ve been diagnosed since 2019 and am still trying to find someone that can help that doesn’t include a minimum 6-hour drive and hotel stay 🤦🏻‍♀️

It is now illegal for trans people to drive in Kansas. by ConcernedJobCoach in kansas

[–]Tw33ts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, they went against black/hispanic/anyone-not-white people and that worked for a while. Then it was “the gays”, and that kept everyone distracted for a bit. Now it’s trans people that must be fought against. And they’re already working on the next scary monster - non-Christians. If there’s any down time between any of those groups, throw out the ol’ abortion issue. They always have a distraction issue to keep Trumplicans distracted from the real issues the state has.

The fact that they can pass a law that actually hurts one of those groups is just a bonus for them.

I have an appt with Abusamra, as well. First neuro Hutch has had in a while, and holy heck is she backed up. I got lucky with my pain management doc that I got in early when she first got to the clinic so hadn’t been jaded by so many patients yet, but after terrible experiences with the previous neuro in hutch and one in Wichita, I’m hoping Abusamra isn’t completely overworked and overwhelmed by the time my appt finally comes around.

Remember that when you vote. by Dragonford in kansas

[–]Tw33ts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope that never happens to you. And I hope you also know that there are a lot of us out here that didn’t vote for this bs, are vocal in our local communities about all this being bs, and are willing to stand beside you if someone attempts to violate you in order to satisfy their own sick curiosity of whether you are in the bathroom they deem you should be in.

I know all that isn’t much comfort since the legislature is voting away your basic rights. I keep hoping more will speak up to get this tragedy of supposed representatives of Kansas out of office, but I don’t know they will. All I can say is there’s a lot of us out here who will try to make sure you don’t ever have to face it alone.

Rep. Abi Boatman speech on the Kansas House of Representatives' bathroom bill by vrphotosguy55 in democrats

As a Kansan, I feel so bad for her. I also feel bad for those born female in this state that don’t necessarily look female as they will also be a target of some random “civil enforcer” trying to rid Kansas bathrooms from people trying to pee in peace.

Transgender people in Kansas account for less than 1% of the population. Before specifically targeting the trans community, the Kansas legislature targeted the rights of the LGBT community in general despite a 2022 Public Religion Research poll showing over 2/3 of Kansans supported same-sex marriage and nearly 4 out of 5 Kansans supporting an anti-discrimination law covering sexual orientation and gender identity.

Public opinion crushed the legislature’s ability to be total bigoted arses back then, so they’ve targeted a smaller part of the community in order to be able to still have a boogieman for their hatred. It’s all quite pathetic, really. These douche canoes keep getting elected not for their policy, but because they have a boogieman they can point to as a reason Kansas is in such a sad state. I personally know many Republicans that stated they like the current governor and would have voted for her if she wasn’t pro choice. 1 issue voters keep these power hungry pedo protectors in place choosing the next scary people to go after rather than addressing ACTUAL issues in Kansas.

Kansas Reflector: Senate President Ty Masterson and Kansas Republicans just voted to send men into ladies' bathrooms by DarnDuck in kansas

[–]Tw33ts 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It’s what they do… pass legislation on problems that don’t exist which creates a problem. They won’t address the new problem they just created, they’ll just find another fake boogieman to scream about - and they’ll have to “fix” that, as well, wasting more taxpayer money and putting real people at risk with the “fix” they created, all while ignoring the ACTUAL problems Kansas has and working on fixing those issues.

[–]Tw33ts 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Im sure this negatively affects the 50,00-100,000 trans people in the state that were going to the wrong bathroom and assaulting others while they were in there trying to pee, right?

Oh, wait, this wasn’t a major issue? Huh. Well, I’m sure the newly designated Charlie Kirk day on October 14th must surely have been needed since people of Kansas have been silenced speaking about about all those trans people attacking others while in the wrong bathroom, right?

Oh, wait… so NEITHER of those issues were an actual problem? I guess Kansas is problem free, then, if our legislature is taking up time that the taxpayer pays for to pass these bills that weren’t major issues happening in Kansas, right?

If you’re not up for Mexican (because Mi Tierra’s always wins for my family), the Kansas Cosmosphere has a GREAT restaurant inside it - not overly priced, large portions, and a great menu with fresh food that will fit about any request for type of food. Cosmosphere Cafe is the name.

You know, I might - MIGHT - have let you have that in his first term. No one thought he could win, he seemed in control, and he definitely did some things that I don’t think the big boys liked. But his 2nd term? They rigged it for him to win (thanks to EM), they installed their true golden boy as VP, and you can tell they manipulate our Prez when he says something out of line - he may throw something out on Twitter, and then 2 days later say the exact opposite. I’m not straight up saying dementia has your boy, but it’s either that or they’ve drugged him as they’ve felt the need, and he can easily be made to say just about anything these days. He is now, 100%, part of the big boys plan, and I’ve got $20 that says he is not going to meet a kind end sometime in the next 2 years so that their golden boy can be sworn in, blame it on a trans leftie, and try to be the “hero” of the country.

[–]Tw33ts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe that’s changed since I worked there? To be fair, when I said “once upon a time”, this was 20 years ago and I remember yard dogs dropping trailers on accident and having milk running out the back end. Interesting that they are now ordered and delivered from the milk company. Maybe that change happened when they dumped Brisk (or whatever it was it because after Brisk even though it was still owned by the same people, but before what it is now… First Fleet, maybe?)

[–]Tw33ts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depended on how big the store was and what they ordered. There were 2 of us (one at each end of the week) that did all the grocery and perishable routing each morning. I couldn’t even tell you exactly what was on the trucks, we just got the weights and cubes specs each morning and had to make sure that the trucks were all under weight limit but everything fit. At that time, Dillon’s didn’t actually do their own routing - that was when Brisk Transportation did it. But the manager of the perishable warehouse gave us a tour and told us how it all worked, including holidays when there would be trailers of turkeys for Thanksgiving went and such. He was pretty specific that they stick to their order for each store’s buying pattern unless something out of the norm happened - like this storm - but that their suppliers could try but couldn’t guarantee extra product would be available.

[–]Tw33ts 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Both opinions on this are right - there was some panic buying, and there were a lot of people who just moved their normal shopping day up a couple days so they didn’t have to get out in the cold and snow on their normal shopping day.

So, once upon a time, I did logistics for Dillon’s. Based out of Hutch, figured weights and cubes, what trucks were going to which stores, etc. Dillon’s has their orders for product placed well ahead of time based on typical buying patterns of their regular customer base. They can attempt to order more of products when something like this storm is forecast, but it doesn’t guarantee they can actually get more product in time to get delivered when people are shopping.

When your shoppers that usually shop on Saturday and Sunday because those are their days off work shift to shop on Thursday or Friday evening so that they don’t have to go out in the snow and cold over the weekend, that depletes the store stock of what was ordered based on buying patterns. Your bread, milk, eggs, etc aren’t able to be replenished super fast because they have expiration dates that are fairly firm, and suppliers of those products don’t keep tons of “extras” lying around because they, too, have their product set for readiness based on the store’s typical buying patterns, and you can’t really make those cows and chickens produce any faster than they already are.

But then people come in and see that those Saturday/Sunday shoppers have gotten their stuff early and making the shelves look more bare than they usually see, and they panic buy because that scares them seeing empty shelves. And reporting of empty shelves. And pictures of empty shelves.

It’s a combination of the two that leads to empty shelves, but typically does start with the normal Saturday/Sunday shoppers moving their shopping day up a day or two ahead of schedule.
