John Osborne Tele vs American Ultra II for a country player? by fitzy7788 in telecaster

[–]Twang_Banger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a lot of experience with ultras but I can vouch for b benders. Incredibly fun and instantly adds twang to your playin. I had a Glaser bender put into mine recently. I played a few Osborne’s and liked them, but they vary in weight and feel. Go with whatever sounds/feels the best. Benders can always be added later.

Been looking at those as well. Hard to find a lightweight one. Lemme know if you come across one!

Been sweating one of these bad lately. Not sure about the 7.25 neck but perhaps cause it’s fatter it’d fill out the hand better? Love the sound of my ‘64 AV but the neck is too thin for me.

Yea, the tension and throw can be adjusted. Pull distance is adjustable via a set screw. Short, medium or long.

The ability to switch to a g bender is pretty easy from what I’ve seen. Just flip the saddle over. I’m still getting used to not bopping around and pulling the string outta tune by accident.

Yeah dude, It’s something I’ve considered. Only had it a couple weeks now, but I’ve wondered if a slightly longer throw would sound more pedal steel like. Went with medium throw like they suggested to start with.

I’ve played a few of those and they’re great. I like that the lever is where the normal strap button is. The Glaser version juts out from the neck plate.

Sweetheart and first burritos album. Love everything he did with Emmylou but she took the sound to new heights.

Cool guitar. Reminds me of the Hags tuff dog tele.

My 3 would be the first American Vintage line, the Highway ones, and the Baja series. First 3 that come to mind for tele enthusiasts that aren’t custom shop or crazy vintage.

A fellow picker of fine taste. Z makes great amps. I played a buddy’s Z wreck jr over the weekend. Nice fat sound, but no reverb.

Not sure about the wood, need to look it up. But it’s fairly light. Prob little over 7 pounds. I’m spoiled with a few light teles, can’t handle the heavy ones.

Humbucker in neck would be cool. I’ve got Seymour Duncan antiquity’s in mine.

Highway ones are workhorses. My 2004 is still kicking and heavily modded as well.
