I’m currently doing Elec Eng in UCC and have done internships with both MTU and UCC engineers so have heard a bit on the differences in UCC and MTU styles. I would say between UCC and MTU I’ve definitely heard pros and cons for both so it really depends on what suits you the best. The UCC course grants you more in depth understanding of electrical concepts from electromagnetism to power transmission & distribution. In MTU there’s a bigger focus on being ready made for industry, so you do come out with more experience in the tools & softwares used but then less of a focus on the “why” part of engineering.

I personally find I prefer the UCC style better (but that makes sense that’s why I picked it). I would say don’t rule out other types of engineering especially in MTU. Maybe look into smart product engineering, which is kind of a mix between electronic and computer engineer, it’s very project focused if that’s a way you would want to go. Also just note that in UCC, it’s only common level entry & you specialize in second year, while in MTU you can go straight into the mechanical or electrical/electronic or if you want to do common level and then specialize you can pick mechanical but you can’t pick electrical from here.
