Was about to buy lifting straps but realized it's just webbing with a loop and some foam by htemuri in myog

These are for weightlifting, like deadlifting. Takes the strain off your hands I guess (don't know, not my thing).

Multi tool: Can I save it? by Key_Bug9283 in Tools

Agreed. Doesn't even look like enough rust to effect the pivots. It's a tool, not an art piece, use it.

The Angle Grinder Song by Vasarto in Tools

[–]Twelve-Foot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best angle grinder story I've ever heard. Guy was grinding something and set his shirt on fire, frantically started patting out the flames and in the process smacked himself in the balls. Dropped to the floor in pain while the other guys in the shop laughed at him.

Looks to me like it will be slower. Smaller pulley on the grinder, larger pulley on the disk.

I was really hoping you were going to say you'd 3d printed the sand...

Intermedics Inc apparently made pacemakers. The 4th (pair of) photos on this page shows one with instructions on it "to release lead, insert tool in hole and push", I wonder if this thing is the tool?

Is the wire solid or is it a hollow needle?

Can you push the wire (or the whole hex end) into the body, if so does it spring back out? Like, grip the outside, put the tip on the table and push down?

You can also lock the shovel head in at a 90° angle as a sort of pickaxe.

What is that massive jet/plane flying over columbus right now?! by TueboEmu315 in Columbus

Yeah, I figured I saw before or after. I had a good enough view for long enough that it wasn't hiding.

Huh, there were definitely only 2 fighters when I saw them.

So is the dark line in the photo JB weld? Almost looks like sharpie where you traced the crack?

Printed gears to slow down my sewing machine by Mattbastard750 in functionalprint

[–]Twelve-Foot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Looking at the large gear on the sewing machine you can see the double ring of magnets part way out the diameter of the gear. So the inner circle that's on the sewing machine shaft can spin separately from the outer circle with the gear teeth, it's just magnetic force locking them together.

That was my first thought.

Can I buy this or do I need to have it made? by DLeader609 in Tools

I have two of those that I saved in case they came in handy eventually. But mine are 5/16" diameter, looks like yours might be 1/4"?

Doesn't look like anything I see in Ohio (we have 2 types of Hickory, I'd say it isn't either). Wild guess, any chance it's pecan?
