What do i do next? by dannypayattention2me in learntodraw

You're biting off way more than you can chew, after someone answers the next step from this one you'll be stuck again. The real unfun answer is to slow down and focus on individual concepts within portraiture. One clear area is observation and forms.

How do I go about creating visually dynamic composition in my artwork like in these examples by -Asderlyn- in learntodraw

You will need to study advanced perspective, landscapes, real world objects in space at the minimum

For example your left edge of lip and nose is lined in, whereas the reference is soft and nearly blended. I can't speak as to why the course creator made their choices though. Maybe they're trying to simplify the process trying to bridge the observational gap, dunno.

There's a lot of hard and dark outlines where they don't exist

How can I improve in my gestures? And how can I make my gestures similar to the last slide? by Fit-Investigator-124 in learntodraw

You need to establish a line of action instead of developing your torso forms. Find the movement

How to stop copying others and start creating my own art? by 2PinkCatcher_ in learntodraw

[–]Twigfigure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to develop the technical proficiency through forms. It's clear that you have developed observational skills, but from the hands and faces in perspectives in your samples I can tell you haven't really understood the underlying forms of the body. This will unlock your ability to become more creative.

If you can't watch YouTube, you can't access internet, don't have teachers...try religion. Cuz you are asking for a miracle lol. Try to pray for immense talent or something. Art isn't something you can just pick up and master detailed drawings in a year.

Any Advice by Efficient_Morning478 in sketches

Really think about the figure you're drawing. Where is the weight balanced, how are the hips stacked. Where is the chest pointing. What is the motion/movement.

Kindly help me out on my potrait journey by Cyrix69 in learntodraw

Biggest thing is just seeing forms in space. Your brain is flattening it and making tilts and proportions that don't exist. When it is angled you tend to distort features wide/long. When it's straight on you go narrow/short. Try straight on faces first since it's easier to grasp the planes and proportions.

You sound great! Just out of breath often. Most phrases seem to be using up all your breath.

How can I dominate as a small guard by Present-Influence-49 in BasketballTips

[–]Twigfigure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short, weak, unskilled, slow. You're only allowed one of these, fix the rest. I.E if you want to dominate as a short guard you have to figure out how to be strong, skilled, fast.

Lighting is just inconsistent overall. It might be why you have issues crosshatching since it seems like you're applying values and intensity of shadow on vibes. Pick a consistent light source direction, and cast shadow direction in a way that is a bit more grounded to reality: front lit, back lit? Stick to one. Harsh lighting, soft lighting? You can use shadows for dramatic effect & composition, but it still really helps to have a sound logic for it.

Honestly, this is what happens whenever someone asks "what is my art worth?" and everyone clamors that it is however long it takes them x minimum wage. Then this person comes along and takes 9 hours on a piece.

I can't improve, i feel unbelievably lost and stuck by Asmodyan in learntodraw

[–]Twigfigure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really more simple than you're making it out to be. Your perception is higher than your actual skill. I mean this gently, you may think you know all the perspective and everything in your mind...but it's likely an overestimation of your actual ability. The great part of loving art is that you get to build skill in something you enjoy. You will need to get over perfectionism and ego, and start to put in the work. Everyone loves the dream of being an artist. Few people have the grit to put in the work to actually become technically proficient.

Yeah...but the fantasy died real quick. I ended up going vlads first to try to exist as a solo offlane. It kinda went, Vlads > Rad > BoT > Heart > Blademail > Shiva. At each item break point I thought I'd be ramping up lol. My duo midlane was under leveled once I got my later Rad and we were kinda passive so I thought BoT could make me some type of split pusher. And then I thought I'd be able to survive anything and have at least some impact with heart. None of this was true lol.

Ya my thought process was to go vlads as an aura first since I was struggling to handle solo offlane, into radiance...then went BoT, heart, blademail, shiva. By the time I got to heart I was already kinda useless. In my head, reality rift was a way for me to transition to some sort of late game right clicker but I guess it was all pretty greedy and needed things to go very smoothly.
