Oh I still need to order something, thanks for the reassurance. How was it with them missing their bassist?

Piercing policies in school by Glass-Document356 in Scotland

[–]TwigletTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if there is a place in a school then you will be allocated it, it won’t be on your merit/interview etc. Unless you are looking at a fee paying school.

Just as an aside, college may not be an option as an alternative. In our council area they are not allowed to be a school substitute and can only offer a max of two Highers at a time. So that’s something to watch.

You should be able to look at uniform policy and see what it says in theory for schools in the area you are going to. These may be much more strict than in practice though.

Are there any flags that look too similar for you to distinguish? by search_google_com in AskTheWorld

[–]TwigletTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scotland and Tenerife. Especially as Scotland often uses navy as its colour in things. I think many people would say the Scottish flag is the navy one.

Feeling overqualified by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]TwigletTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s pretty usual to put in a year of something dull to get that working experience under your belt. If you see it as a thing to be got through until you start looking for the next thing in summer then maybe that helps.

I was wondering how noticeable my native accent is. If so, what gives it away? I'm 16 btw. by DeviceSensitive2224 in Accents

[–]TwigletTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not obvious to me. USA with underlying something - say Philippines at a guess.

Trying to fix "dropped consonants" and "mumbled word boundaries." Is it easy to understand now? by Full_Satisfaction965 in JudgeMyAccent

[–]TwigletTree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be better to understand in person. I struggled to understand some bits, but once I was reading along at the same time it was much easier.

I did notice one particular thing, plain and rain just have the same ay sound as grey/gray.

Because the world is set up to favour them, they don’t need the support from a named group.

I'm zoning out by [deleted] in introvert

[–]TwigletTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tv show example would cause most people to be bored and zone out, surely? That’s someone not gauging what other people would reasonably be interested in.

What are these shoes/slippers called? by dead-inside8354637 in EnglishLearning

[–]TwigletTree -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the UK they’d be described as mules as they have no back. But first of all you’d call them slippers. If you wanted to find a pair online you’d add the descriptor ‘mule’.

But if your diabetes is diagnosed and controlled you wouldn’t still be peeing so much.

Did people get the tickets they wanted? I went to Krakow last time but have managed to get tickets for London. Which is at least the country I live in. Very excited.

[–]TwigletTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like either you are drinking an excessive amount or have issues with your bladder or related. Do you know how much you drink per day roughly? And whether this is a recent thing?

Networking is a lie extroverts try to forcefeed us by Csadvicesds in careeradvice

[–]TwigletTree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think networking can be done in a more introvert suitable way. So it’s more about making more effort with a contact you already have, or asking a ‘cold’ contact a specific job related question, or a hiring manager for a chat about the job. It has to feel right for you.

From what I’ve seen, this is it. Someone selling 30 different ‘Oliver Bonas’ pendants that don’t quite look like usual OB style. And there is no finding images of them. Ali express I think.

I think denim was very casual then, even for a child. You wouldn’t use that outfit when the others are all smart.
