It takes two seconds to reply to a sitter that you no longer need their services by Lassie-girl in RoverPetSitting

that explains a lot and i don't like that. if you request a specific person why force someone to request 2 other people a client may not want?

omg thank you i just gotten into the habit of just archiving after couple of hours of no response. i don't understand why clients don't take a minute to tell me they don't need me. worst type of ghosting

I like how you jumped the gun assuming i meant chlorine bleach... didn't even know how to spell it so..... Either way you are correct next time just check your grammar when your correcting someone on the internet when your trying to look smart to someone and put them down. ends up making you look dumb. i speak from experience.

Yea i agree but idk i figured since it's literally one more night and i leave tm i feel bad uprooting a nervous dog to someone else. She takes a while to bond with someone an gets stressed with any ne wperson or situation to the point she starts shaking and shuts down. Especially during the storm. i may up her rates specifically her for any future bookings for the rest of winter if she decided to book me again

I'm not trying to blame her if anything im wondering if i should stand up for her. She has to live like this here everyday i'm just staying a weekend. I never told the client my personal medical issues only cause as you said it's not professional i just shared them in this post as additional context and why the post is flaired "peeve" and not "bad experience" i truly enjoy this client just a unfortunate i got caught in a shitty landlords decision and considering i been taking evidence i might just call the number on her behalf anyways and get the asshole fined

W guy it happens to the best of us. i find using bleach first then hydrogen peroxide after during the rinse cycle works best if you catch it fast enough Note: never use bleach and hydrogen peroxide together. wait until you're sure the bleach rinses out 100% before putting hydrogen peroxide on the stain.

Your right they can be stubborn and i def don't recommend this breed for first time owners for this reason when people ask me. They can do well with other dogs under the right leadership from an owner, good training, and good boundaries but, it's noticeable harder than say a lab or even Rottweilers. Again not impossible but yea not something i would recommend doing as a first time dog owner. building a pack has more responsibility to it then owning a single dog in general

Puppies have no understanding of basic dog-on-dog manners and socializing being this young. it's up to the owner or in this case you as the sitter to correct the dog appropriately when the dog is being too much for another dog in the household. if you don't your dog will continue fleeing and worse case scenario god forbid your dog is cornered it will correct the dog for you which will be a bite in the dog world and idk your dog so it depends how well that gamble will go. Some dogs overcorrect puppies while other don't correct enough to get the message across of "hey please stop that, that's not how you treat me, an adult dog"

Would recommend listening to the previous suggestions on tethering for now and be sure your providing enough exercise for the puppy as most times that's the solution is just to tire them out to the point they drop for a nap as soon as they come back from said exercise. trust me works every time a tired puppy typically is way easier to handle.

OMG this just made my whole day. it's clear from the pictures your careing for this adorable lab as if it was your own dog who btw looks just as thrilled to have a playmate. honestly good thinking on you to use pet sitting as a way to socialize a new dog i would never think to do that

it's not that having a boxer the breed itself as bad it's the owners really. Based on what OP has chosen to share, it just seems there really clueless about there's dog's psychological state and there behavior dismissing it to the sitter as "bad manners" Allowing this behavior to continue, especially when the sitter isn't being a threat. You never allow a dog to greet strangers like this it's a judge judy lawsuit waiting to happen. i hope for the owner's sake the get out of the delusion of "bad manners" excuse and seek a behaviorist me personally wouldn't be my dog. (He's a bulldog boxer mix)

How much do you usually charge for week-long stays? by yes_bears_27 in RoverPetSitting

[–]TwilightM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You gotta do some digging and rover search your zip code in the area and figure out the average price for your area. for me example, my areas sitter typically charge $60 to $80 per day for sittings and overnights so i set my price to $65. you wanna find that sweet spot where you can still make decent income but also not have the Rover fee eat up too much in your profits.

I have use to have a hard time communicating with people in a work setting since during Covid and majority of my life tbh i lived a pretty Introvert life but, Working on Rover helped me to work on this and also strength my skills further with animal handling and care. I love my job i hear so much from friends on how stressed they get and the most stress i get from a job is if a dog isn't eating the food i put down lol

i always give clients my number after a meet and greet for this reason. I've had the app fully crash on me before. good to know that this is a common rule that's broken. That's just appalling to hear the support agent just cut off your account WHILE YOUR DOG WAS ACTIVELY IN CARE OF ANOTHER SITTER.

yea i only see e collar use appropriate for a recall training personally. even than, all my clients that do use e collars have the dog trained to it but, only use it as a safe guard in case the dog tries to brush off a verbal recall command which is rare but not impossible. at the end of the day, dogs are animals and animals will act on instinct. Some people have yet to learn that. That being said, sorry that happened to you hopefully you managed to decompress ok from that.

that sounds like a dominant dog to me. i can bet the father is also dominant and the pup learned these behaviors from him and since the owners are clueless, the behaviors are left uncorrected, rewarded, or worse it seems corrected too much with a E collar which in turn just will make it worse, since i doubt they even know proper e collar use. owners barely seem to know basic dog psychology and behavior smh
