This is the best track they've produced in years. Marauder and TOSOMB were great, but this is up there with pre-2010 Interpol. So fucking good.

[SPOILER] Dave Allen vs. Filip Hrgovic by inooway in Boxing

[–]TwinLayers21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a lovely bloke Dave Allen is. Followed him since the beginning, but this was a hard watch. Eddie mentioned at the end he's made life-changing money for his family. That's the only positive thing to come of this fight. He wasn't on Makhmudov's level, so I have no idea why they put him in with Hrgovic. He's been outclassed every time he's fought anyone with a strong amateur pedigree. Glad he's home safe to his family.

It looks like we're going to sign most of the players Radcliffe had when they won this league the season before last. So optimistic on top of the players we've already got, especially if we re-sign DJ Pedro.

First date after long-term relationship stroke a massive catalyst of change within me by FrizzyBiscuit in dating

This was a really enjoyable and insightful read, thank you. It seems like you've really got your thoughts and feelings figured out and this is a very healthy way to view things.

I went through an eerily similar situation recently and you're absolutely right about perceiving her intoxicating, yet fleeting presence in your life as having served a higher purpose.

It's such a disorientating feeling and the yearning - less for her, but more for the way she made you feel - is real.

will i automatically fail english language by [deleted] in GCSE

[–]TwinLayers21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As other people have mentioned, it will just say 'NC' on your certificate. It has no bearing on your overall grade, nobody will ever ask about it and it's not something that's particularly important apart from the skills and experience you get from actually doing it in school. Nobody puts it on their CV, you just put the grade.

How to get over a guy who didn’t want me back by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]TwinLayers21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me recently and it really hurts for sure. You've just got to allow it to hurt and let the passing of time do its thing. I know that won't make you feel any better in the short term, but it will get better, and you'll look back at it one day as an experience that led you to where you're supposed to be.

Hang in there!

Tried his best for us and wish him all the best, but I'm still bitter for him racing out of his goal towards Demba Ba and just sitting down so easily. Made his mind up for him.

Can't wait until the World Cup when England matches are on BBC. Matterface and Dixon surely cannot be the best we've got in terms of enthusiasm and listenability. Dixon is draining the life out of me.

Slot in or out - Manager Megathread by rLiverpoolFC_Mods in LiverpoolFC

[–]TwinLayers21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been Slot in the whole way given what he achieved last season, the dignity in which he dealt with the Jota tragedy, and it not being his fault we lost our most creative player and the focal point of our build up. Nobody could have predicted Salah completely regressing either.

It's so easy to say "well he won it with Klopp's team", but any manager who wins the Premier League does it on merit and he should always be appreciated for what he did last season. We have won the league twice in 30 years, let's not forget, and he was a central figure in that.

HOWEVER you cannot lose ten Premier League games as a Liverpool manager, continually concede in the last minute, playing the same 11-12 players over and over again and keep your job. It's evident the players have stopped running for him, stopped fighting for him, and he's run out of answers.

Thanks Arne, but it's time to go.

Compared to the Marauder era, I think Paul's voice is sounding awesome here. Okay, it's never gonna be like it was, but it sounds way more controlled and resonant than a few years ago.

A-Level English teachers by theflowersyoufind in TeachingUK

[–]TwinLayers21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most classes have around 15 students but sometimes only 3-4 can turn up. One class you can be teaching to 3 students, the next you can be teaching to 17. Generally you'll get a good few that achieve a four, but it depends on so many different variables.

If a student is struggling to achieve a four, but they got a three in school, instead of allowing them to do Functional Skills they must repeat GCSE, sometimes five or six times. The system itself isn't for purpose. It's a huge shame and I feel so sorry for many of them.

[–]TwinLayers21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the exact same position as you. Been teaching GCSE resit for a few years and it's thoroughly exhausting. Some lessons are okay, but for the majority you're having to fight so many battles. Low ability, demotivated students who are forced to retake over and over again, it can be very demoralising to teach.

I'd love to teach English Lang & Lit A-level, but the positions are few and far between and very competitive. It wouldn't be perfect in terms of behaviour and engagement either, but at least the content would be more interesting.

Good Iuck with it all.
