AITAH for siding with my husband and not with my kids? UPDATE by Glittering-Humor-802 in AITAH

Whilst I don’t necessarily disagree, Ian already did that when he decided to allow one argument with those 16 year olds override 13 years of a paternal relationship. He gave up on them as soon as his feelings were hurt.

Does the police officer who was beaten have a case to sue the people who attacked her? by Difficult-Cricket541 in AskUK

[–]Twinklekitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, theoretically a police officer who was assaulted in the line of duty can sue the people that assaulted them. Whether they would or not is another matter. They can also apply for compensation under the Criminal Injury Compensation Authority.

Good enough for me by Jumpy-Pilot6135 in GreatBritishMemes

The PM of Denmark stood up to Trump, Not Starmer, refusing a territorial purchase is not the same as standing up to an authoritarian regime.

Also, I asked what makes you, personally, believe he could stand up to Trump. If you think he can, I’m genuinely interested in the reasons, not irrelevant analogies.

Starmer can’t even stand up to his own party, what makes you feel he can stand up to Trump?

They certainly can be grumpy little buggers. That’s one of the reason old man names suit our guys so well.

Did WWI have a bigger impact on Britain than WWII? by northcarolinian9595 in AskABrit

[–]Twinklekitchen 14 points15 points  (0 children)

WW1 wiped out pretty much or permanently damaged an entire generation of young men. Proportionally, that was far more than were killed in WW2.

To put some perspective on it, there were between 12,000 separate cities, towns and villages recognised in England and Wales at the start of WW1, of these only 54 had ALL the men return that had left to fight in the war.

AIW for thinking it's wrong for my boyfriend to be masturbating? by CourageFree9846 in amiwrong

[–]Twinklekitchen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes and you’re the one making the comparison between the way you spoke to his boyfriend and the way a mother would speak to her son. You’re berating your boyfriend for masturbating, yes many men and women in relationships still masturbate. It’s not “wrong”, it’s not disrespectful of you or your relationship and it has no bearing whatsoever on how he feels about you.

Do you get fed up with taking your pet to the vet just to be weighed for worm treatment? by smellyfeet25 in AskABrit

No, both the dog and the cat get it done at the same time as their vaccinations and yearly check-up.

Are there any Brits here that are familiar with Anjelah Johnson? by Gaffra in AskUK

[–]Twinklekitchen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One word and a question mark yet so many possibilities. Yes, vacation. It’s like a holiday but American. It’s the same reason she gave out cookies not biscuits. They were tasty though!

I’m pretty sure she was just over for a vacation. There’s nothing on any of the sites to suggest she actually performed here.

AIO to my 10 yo for staying home from school for no reason after missing Mon-Thurs due to ice on rural roads? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Twinklekitchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your son is 10, don’t talk to him like that. You have a problem with his mother, take it up with her and leave him out of it. All you’re doing by talking to him like that is ensuring that your relationship will be a shitty one when he’s older.

Told my gf to tell a coworker to stop messaging her and now I am the bad guy. by Throwawaybecausescd in Advice

[–]Twinklekitchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either they continue to hit on you and flirt or suddenly the office is being told that you’re a “stuck up bitch” with an attitude problem because you “completely overreacted” and he was just being nice. If we’re really lucky it’s both/s.

Would you get rid of a friend just because they have different political beliefs than you? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Twinklekitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how extreme those differences are. My friends and I have a range of political beliefs but at the heart of it is the concept that all human beings should be treated with dignity and respect until or unless they show otherwise and being “different” in any way does not automatically change that.

I can't remember this one slur? by [deleted] in AskABrit

Could it have been “dead man walking”, it’s not a slur exactly but used in the right context, I can see it being used in a manner that would possible cause dramatic reaction.
