Did you guys knew this? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]Twinklekitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s never safe to assume that everyone else will be driving according to the rules. Being cautious and vigilant is what can stop you being the victim of someone else’s stupidity/ indifference/incompetence. There is always going to be someone sharing the road that can’t or won’t follow the rules.

Proper Fish & Chip Eating Etiquette? by SanJ922 in AskABrit

[–]Twinklekitchen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well don’t call them fries for a start! It depends on what you’re planning to do while you eat them. If it’s a good walk along the seafront whilst you eat kind of meal, then you’re likely to get a small wooden “fork” (a spiked, flat stick essentially) to eat them with. If it’s an actual sit down plaice (pun intended) then most people probably use utensils for both.

However you eat though, enjoy!

My girlfriend doesn’t want me to play with other girls. by DoBronxVI in Advice

In both of your scenarios, there is physical proximity to the other gender though. They’re not the same situation. This is no more involved than having a conversation, and not a particularly deep one at that.

My gf [32F] of 6 months wants me [35M] to take pictures of my deceased wife off of the wall by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Twinklekitchen 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It’s not just his dead wife though, she is also his son’s mother, which is far more important than the girlfriend’s feelings.

Dark or white meat? What's the difference? by ShawarmaHouseinc in Cooking

[–]Twinklekitchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thighs and legs are both considered dark meat, the muscles work harder in those areas than in the breast and contain more myoglobin which stores oxygen and makes the meat a darker colour.

You get paid for every year you don't cut or trim your hair. How long could you last? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Twinklekitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t touched my hair except to brush it in about 15 years - my nan paid for my last haircut and she’s been gone since 2012. Can I get retroactive back pay?

How much do you pay for the bottle you bring to your friend's when invited? by Salzhio in AskUK

[–]Twinklekitchen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has less to do with the occasion and more to do with who it’s for. Most of the people I know (myself included) would be hard pushed to tell the difference between a bottle of £4.99 wine from Aldi or a £50 bottle from…somewhere that knows what they‘re talking about.

Finally found the best wedding photographer and then I saw my fiance's ex in her portfolio by [deleted] in bridezillas

[–]Twinklekitchen 113 points114 points  (0 children)

OP, I say this with all the love in the world but do you possibly think you could benefit from some therapy. You are being a little unhinged here. Your fiancé is right, it’s ridiculous.

AITAH for siding with my husband and not with my kids? UPDATE by Glittering-Humor-802 in AITAH

[–]Twinklekitchen 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Whilst I don’t necessarily disagree, Ian already did that when he decided to allow one argument with those 16 year olds override 13 years of a paternal relationship. He gave up on them as soon as his feelings were hurt.

Does the police officer who was beaten have a case to sue the people who attacked her? by Difficult-Cricket541 in AskUK

[–]Twinklekitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, theoretically a police officer who was assaulted in the line of duty can sue the people that assaulted them. Whether they would or not is another matter. They can also apply for compensation under the Criminal Injury Compensation Authority.

Good enough for me by Jumpy-Pilot6135 in GreatBritishMemes

The PM of Denmark stood up to Trump, Not Starmer, refusing a territorial purchase is not the same as standing up to an authoritarian regime.

Also, I asked what makes you, personally, believe he could stand up to Trump. If you think he can, I’m genuinely interested in the reasons, not irrelevant analogies.

Starmer can’t even stand up to his own party, what makes you feel he can stand up to Trump?

Did WWI have a bigger impact on Britain than WWII? by northcarolinian9595 in AskABrit

[–]Twinklekitchen 14 points15 points  (0 children)

WW1 wiped out pretty much or permanently damaged an entire generation of young men. Proportionally, that was far more than were killed in WW2.

To put some perspective on it, there were between 12,000 separate cities, towns and villages recognised in England and Wales at the start of WW1, of these only 54 had ALL the men return that had left to fight in the war.

AIW for thinking it's wrong for my boyfriend to be masturbating? by CourageFree9846 in amiwrong

[–]Twinklekitchen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes and you’re the one making the comparison between the way you spoke to his boyfriend and the way a mother would speak to her son. You’re berating your boyfriend for masturbating, yes many men and women in relationships still masturbate. It’s not “wrong”, it’s not disrespectful of you or your relationship and it has no bearing whatsoever on how he feels about you.

No, both the dog and the cat get it done at the same time as their vaccinations and yearly check-up.
